English strikers - why not as good now?

Has anybody noticed that most English players coming through now have real technical ability?

Players like Henderson (say what you want he is a very very good technical player, just has the heart of a mouse), Cleverley, Walcott, Oxlade-Chambo look more like European players than British players.

No, not really noticed that real technical ability at all. Not from those players, at least.

Walcott? Technical?

Welbeck too with his signature backheel

England have always had very good technical players but unfortunately for the national team they were rarely chosen.

I as a United fan want us to sign as many foreign players as possible as they are cheaper, better, more technical ability and are easier on the eye.

Every United side that has had success did so with a British nucleus.

if Walcott is technical then so is James Milner

The fact that Oxlade-Chamberlain has consistently made the England team recently is a good indication of our severe lack of technical ability.

Everyone tells me the premier league has the best defending in Europe, those idiots on the continent haven't got a clue about defending.

Jokes aside, Cavani's record of 16 in 16 in Serie A is mightily impressive. Great striker.

Fred
Walnut, Ox and Henderson are nothing like european players. All are kick and rush merchants with brawn and guts, thunder, work rate, tracking back qualities.

Henderson has technical ability? All those players have average technical ability.

.............

Exactly.

You only need to look what happened to Arsenal once they lost their spine of British players. Serves Wenger right for relying on spinelss Frenchies.

Only technical part of Walcott's game is the little chip he does over the keeper sometimes. Other than that he doesn't really possess any technical ability.

You don't want Henderson do you

He's actually a more skillful player than Suarez and has beaten him in every skill challenge on the Liverpool website. He doesn't have any of the above qualities (other than work rate) but does know how to pick a pass and is good at one touch football.

I'll play devil's advocate, VC. Arsenal went unbeaten with 2 English players in the team.

======================

They went a season unbeaten being led by 2 "spineless" Frenchies.

They started going downhill when they started giving massive wages to young players and throwing them in the deep end.

Who were those 2 then?

I thought they had Cole, Campbell and Keown?

Cole and Campbell. Forgot about Keown, but he was in his twighlight.

Yep, you can add the great Chelsea side to that list too, the team lifting the Pl at the end of the season is often the one with the best British players in their starting 11.

Can't have that Fred sorry

Suarez is far more gifted technically than Jordan Henderson -skills challenge or no skills challenge, it's what they do in games that count and Suarez can be unplayable at times, something that can;t be levelled at Jordan Henderson in any form whatsoever

And they might have had Parlour contributing, though I'm not sure how much.
