Read this. The bit that is relevant is 9 paragraphs down. It is pretty much slagging off Parker but does say he has a good touch.

Heart will only take you so far

..............................

How much further do you think Rooney can go? He is technicaly better than a lot of our own fans give him credit for, to be honest.

I want United to sign as many foreign players (apart from defenders as british efenders generally are very good) since they are much better than British Counterparts who struggle to even control a footbal and want to play 100mph football.
---------

ah, foreign players like forlan, veron, reyes, arshavin, all highly rated players before the came to the PL.

being foreign doesnt mean that you will succeed at a club

Dunc thats a bit of a generalisation. Foreign players heads drop but not English players.

Iniesta said once use the ball to conserve your energy, why run around when the ball can do this for you.

---------------
two words

Michael Carrick

he doesn't run with it. He gives it to someone in a better position, be it 5 yards sideways, 20 yards backwards or 40 yards forward.

A typical possession based player our national side never wanted to utilise

Thankfully, United did

This is why our nations mentality proves that players like Carrick are never utilised properly.

If Carrick played long hollywood balls he might be more appreciated.

dunc, that's not strictly true.

Measuring commitment and desire by a player running around is not a good way of gauging it.

Iniesta is probably far more committed and desired towards Spain than they are but he doesn't run around like a headless chicken so using the old cliche he's showing no heart.

These players just show more composure, it's a different footballing culture and false to say they show no heart.

Yes, there are. But Rooney has something these technically superior strikers don't have, called heart.
======

All strikers have a heart.

...............

As I pressed send, I thought there might be some pedantic prat around.

Let me rephrase:

But Rooney has somethings, some of these technically superior strikers don't have, called passion and desire.

-------

obviously not all Mr C, but thats something you never see with a player like Rooney, Gerrard or lampard because they have that heart, drive and will to be winners.

compare that to ballotelli and you can see my point.

It's quite hilarious to see how many times 'first touch' is mentioned on this sight.

I want all of you who support different teams just to watch you games this weekend and I bet you that the first touch is nowhere near as bad as it is said on here every day.

You'd think that every English player can't trap a bag of cement and just sit there with a quizzical look on their face as the ball trickles to a glowing Spanish player who goes and scores a hattrick.

im not denying that, but you still got commitment from him.

Well Forlan, Veron and Arshavin have had far far better careers than the likes of hoofball merchants like Carroll, Downing, Holt and Davies will ever have.
The sooner this hoofball mentality goes out from our heads the better.

Red rob bang on.

As I said to play in PL you have to have a decent first touch. Even the crappest team in the league have players who are capable of having a good touch. But what separates them from the best is the touch in tight spaces.

Its good to have a British spine, but all the top teams are doing so well because of thier foreign players.

------------------------------------
United have

Jones
Smalling
Rio
Evans
Carrick
Scholes
Cleverley
Young
Rooney
Welbeck

All British players

I'd question Gerrard's will to win things by the fact he's stayed at Liverpool all these years.

VC - Rooney for me could have been greater than what he currently is. Cant knock his trophy haul and goal record but you just watch him in some games and he fails to complete most of his passes, or his touch is lazy, or his shooting is off key, or he fails to get involved in some games or he gets dispossessed too easily.. This is meant to be England's best player we're talking about and he goes through this bad patch every season regular like clockwork.

not in the PL they havent though, which is where you're wanting all these foreign players to come and play.

Hoofball merchants? Really? So instead of having strong frontmen who are brilliant at holding up play and bringing in other players, what sort of player would you have?
