I always say a British centre back and keeper should be key. Those are the players who are important as much as the foreign ones.
------------------------------------
HNIC - disagree massively re the keeper. Who was the last British keeper to win a medal with Utd?
Aside from Hart, the last British Keeper to win the league was Seaman wasn't it?
the foreign players are the flair etc.
...............
RVP isn't a flair player, neither is Valencia, Rafa, Vidic, Evra etc.
They were bought for other qualities that they have. RVP for knowing how to put the ball in the back of the net, for example.

I'm not making that statement myself, I'm saying that it's a generally prevalent thread in the responses and disagreeing with it.
I would say Rooney is the exception to the rule. Other than him I would say I used to look forward to Young playing. But for me Nani is the most exciting player at the club.
................
I like Nani as well, but he is way to inconsistant for me. Rooney, even on a bad day, still makes things happen, more often than not.

What I mean is having a good keeper who is English can have that line of communication as can an English centre back.
I like Nani as well, but he is way to inconsistant for me. Rooney, even on a bad day, still makes things happen, more often than not.

Yes I agree and prior to RVP I would say Rooney was the most exciting player to watch, but other than Rooney all the other British players are a bit stale.
At present the foreigners are lighting up the Prem, I never watched other teams play as much but because of City's quality im not ashamed to say I tune in and enjoy thier football at times.

Its exciting because of the foreigners.
.............
Really. Rooney is the one player we have that I always look forward to seeing play the most
-------------------
Agreed
Carrick for me too. He makes passing the ball look so bloody easy.
Anyone feel Carrick has stepped up his game from previous seasons? I would say he is better than ever at present.
As much as I hate the little rat, Suarez is one of the most exciting players to watch.
One of the most exciting defenders for me is Luiz. Not because you know he may make a mistake, but his passing and movement is superb. If only he could sort his defending out (and I know he is improving) he can be one of the best defenders in the world.
Was Cleverley's goal against West Ham or Sunderland not flair?
Welbeck's against Everton?
Young's against Arsenal and Spurs?
Walcott's hattrick against Newcastle last week was one of the best hattricks i've seen.
There is English flair around!
Oh come on VC, RVP is flair player. Some of the astonishing things he does indeed gets you out of your seats.
For me, Evra, Nani and RVP.
People whinge alot about Evra's decline and his diabolical crossing ( i agree) but his technique is barely mentioned.
Over the years, Evra has been one of the best dribblers in our club and his close control and ability in tight spaces is criminally underrated. He gets into excellent positions regularly but alas his crossing is akin to a pub team player.
This season, it seems to be better though.
There is English flair around!
________
Walcott is one of the most exciting players to watch. You'll either laugh at him or you'll applaud him. Basically you don't know what you're going to get, which makes him exciting.
RedRob trying hard bless him

His start to the season was not at his normal level (as usual) but he's back in form now for sure.
If we could just get Nani Young Carrick Clevs (or even better, Ando) RVP and Rooney all fit and in form together, we would win the league by a street in my opinion
Walcotts hattrick was one of the best i have ever seen.

Then you have not watched a lot of football rob. It was a good one but certainly not one of the best ones.

Based on everyones performances we should be favourites for the league its Champions League im concerned about.
If we had a top class CM we would be in with a big chance and I would like to see SAF win both and go out on a high.
Flair is hard to measure but one of our best goals this season was Cleverley's against Sunderland.
Had two Spanish players done that people would be jizzing their pants but as it was Carrick and Cleverley it's never mentioned even when talking about English players and technique.

Depends on how you define flair.
RVP is a clinical goal scorer. So is Messi. Messi is a flair player.
There is a difference.
Agreed, TRC. Evra is technically one of the best footballers around. Such a shame he cannot cross. Imgine how many more goals we'd score of he could given the amount of brilliant positions he gets into.
Rob has now a Cleverley along with carrick poster on his bedroom wall to which he wänks to daily.
Evra has got better this season and even added goals to his game.
I must say I like the look of Leighton Baines for an English player he is superb. But I wouldnt swap Evra for him.

If Messi had scored the third Walcott goal, all the Messi lovers on here would still be jizzing themselves over it.
