English strikers - why not as good now?

So basically when Mars or Jupiter send their best teams to play us in a few decades the Earth super team will consist of...

GK - Italy
Defence - England
Midfield - Spain
Forward - Argentina.

I fancy our chances.

Saying that thought, Titan FC have the greatest goalkeeper i've ever seen.

I thought they had Cole, Campbell and Keown?
Parlour too.

========
Keown barely played, and got appearances as sub at end of season just to get PL medal.
But less, Parlour was a part of it as well as Cole and Campbell.

Wilshere didn't move clubs though.

Whadda'ya mean, even Wilshere? He's just a highly rated teenager in England. He's not a world beater (at least not yet). The expectation and hype around him is ridiculous.

Rob, Italy still produce the best defenders.

But if Arsenal dont challenge and he is stuck around the same players I cant see him fulfilling his potential.

If he moves somewhere else in a team where he is the main player week in, week out, then he has potential to get even better.

Unless Arsenal build around him and buy some more quality it might stagnate him.

At present I dont think Defoe or Rooney are that bad and could certainly play for the top 4, but considering Aguero, RVP and Suarez and streets ahead, it is concerning for England as a whole.

---------------------
You have Rooney in the wrong group there

Comparing him alongside Defoe and not Suarez RVP and Aguero is ridiculous

Have people forgot how important he is the the United unit? He's our heartbeat. A few stray passes or a mis control will never change my opinion on that.

You only have to look at the first half v Spurs or the Norwich game to see how much he is missed.when not playing.

We need him back fit as soon as possible. Him and RVP together will be crucial if we are to get past Madrid

That's debatable. I know they have had a reputation for great defenders over the years but none really stick out for me.
I'm sure that had England somehow played Spain in the Euro final they wouldn't have shipped 4 goals to them like Italy did.

to be honest i dont know why people have an issue with someone saying its down to foreign players, because it is.

i dont think anyone is denying that technically foreign players are better, however going back 10-15 years ago, regardless of this english players were still getting the opportunity because there wasnt the volume of foreigner players that there is now.

Not comparing Rooney to Defoe was just on about the fact they are both English and the others named are foreign.

Rooney is still Englands best player but is behind the other quality foreign strikers IMO.

as a spurs fan, rooney is one of the players i fear most of any opposition player season in season out.

van persie, aguero, mata too.

and walcott cos he always plays well against us.

As long as British players don't improve their first touch and close control there is no hope. Most of them have the touch of an rapist including the best player Rooney.

Together being the key word, and basically the crux of what many have said on here.

Rob, Chiellini is arguably the best cb about.

Let's not let a little thing like them having ten men get in the way of them not having a class defence.

Walcott as a striker could well be a very good player. He's scored 14 goals already this season in his first year as a striker and he and Rooney together for England could be a recipe for success.

Barzagli is better than Chiellini.

Dont you think a lot of that is down to the way British football is played?

Even as a United fan it irks me when we go long but then you realise we are not Barcelona and cant play from the back.

I think its the football culture its not something you can change.

With English football you have that association of long balls, bad weather and fish and chips. Whereas Spain play with more intelligence, good weather, etc etc.

Wayne and Robin

You make it sound like England are just a bunch of oafs who kick and rush and have zero skill at all.

Not quite the truth. Even players like Scott Parker have a decent first touch.

thats b o l l o x if ever ive heard it.

players like cole, ferdinand, fowler werent blessed with a great first touch and natural technical ability, but they certainly knew how to find the net.

the reason they knew how to find the net was because there wasnt the amount of top foreign players over here at the time, so they were given their chance.

What has fish and chips got to do with anything???

80% of the English players are just that. So predictable and play the game at 90mph.

You know what I mean

Rough and tough, bad weather, kick the ball up, use your strength, typical British mentality.

SKA, I prefer Chiellini but Barzagli is very good.

Iniesta said once use the ball to conserve your energy, why run around when the ball can do this for you.

Now its easier said than done, but that is instilled in the nations philosophy on how the game should be played.
