How many good CL seasons did he have at the club?
Is it any coincidence that we started dominating the latter stages of the CL once Carrick came?
Keane was exceptional in so many ways but he was too ill disciplined for European football.
Carrick may not have a lot of Keano's traits but he certainly can control a game in Europe which has been vital for us.
BB
Rob, I know they don't, and it'd be unrealistic to expect the same from Carrick.
But I was agreeing with what BB was saying in that he hadn't realised his potential at United as those types of performances have not been as common as what the best playmakers in Europe churn out - and I've always very much considered him as a playmaker, despite how well he's adapted to a holding role.
When Carrick finishes his United career he'd have been a very good midfielder for us that didn't quite reach the heights he was capable of. That's just my opinion.
Yeah...I thought so Robb
Can dish it out but when it comes back at you, you run back into your Carrick onesie

If that is the case then I blame the lack of decent partners for him.
I guarantee that if Xavi didn't have Iniesta beside him every week for the past 6 seasons then he wouldn't have been as effective.
And that's not me saying that Carrick is as good as Xavi, just that it helps when you have two players playing every week together and can build up a top class partnership.
Carrick on the other hand last season alone had Fletcher, Giggs, Cleverley, Jones, Rooney, Anderson and Scholes playing next to him in different combinations every week.
How can he reach his potential with the dynamics of the side always changing?
Stam looks Keane, Butt here comes Scholes who Giggs past the defender and flicks it over the top, Hughes on the end of it? Cantonaaaaaaaaaaaaaa......surely thats the Best goal Evra? It'll certainly secure the Irwin. (U14927)

Okay, I see you. Run along.

I wanna clarify that Xavi would still be very good but having Iniesta there every week made him even better.

It's me, Martin, from school...Don't you remember?
The thing is, Rob, we may never know. So I don't think it's really relevant.
Between 07-09 we had a good midfield and Carrick still didn't achieve the heights he could have and some of that comes down to his own mentality as well.
What he has achieved on the pitch is important, not what he could have achieved, because if it was we'd all be talking about how Alvaro Recoba was in the top 10 greatest players of the last ten years - the reasons why he, or Carrick haven't reached their potential, becomes redundant.

It's the other way around. Iniesta is very good and made to look even better by Xavi.

If so, I guess I am sort of a big deal to you
Desperate to be noticed...from the guy who has left how many times posting article after article...okay then mate.

Na, it's Martin, as in the headmaster who used to arrange parent's evening with your mother, albeit I came to and in her as opposed to her coming to school.

I could see you put a lot of effort into that post my trawling back and forth into old posts.
So it was funny to just delete it as it showed how pointless your efforts were.
And I bet you'll still come on here looking for an argument because no-marks like you always do.
Fellaini is a proven big game player.

I doubt he has ever played in a 'big' game

- 9 minutes.
But i'm also going off my own eyes from when i've watched Fellaini play against many teams.
But even then, i'd gladly admit that an Everton season ticket holder will know an infinite amount more about Fellaini than you or I.
And this one seems to agree that Fellaini isn't just some Crouch wannabe.
Stam looks Keane
