Moyes was forced to make the most of Fellainis presence up front but he and the player have both said they see his best position being defensive midfield.
As much as we all think we know about football im going to go with Moyes and the player on this one and say Fellaini will improve our current defensive / centre midfield options IF we were to sign him.
Cleverson barely played anyone of note in that period for people to make such definitive claims about their talents.
They played Spurs who were missing Modric and had Kranjcar in midfield and then they played against Arsenal who pretty much had a reserve team playing bar RVP and Walcott.
Carrick plays every week and plays well every week. For people to come on here and say his only talent is staying fit is so ridiculous that I just have to laugh and remember that any idiot can have an opinion on the internet these days.
Carrick is massively over-rated because the rest of our midfielders are shìte 50% of the time.

That's your opinion, I have mine. It's just a shame Carrick never had a reliable midfield partner next to him every week to make him look even better.

Sorry to disappoint. It is simple really. If cleverley and ando did not get injured that season, we will not be having any discussions on midfield. Since then, carrick has been in this midfield, apparently a brilliant player and ever since then we have been crying for a midfielder. You like to believe in coincidence, I dont.
The main reason carrick has been the mainstay im this midfield is mainly due to his fitness. His competitors have had shaky fitness. Personally i rate fitness as a great quality. He is also an above average player no doubt but it is not so brilliant that we put it on a pedestal.
I have seen cleverson dominate average midfields more than I have with any carrick involved midfield. The happiest football I have watched in over 5 years had them too. I would prefer them any day, if they could stay fit.
And I will say it for the millionth time, replacing carrick is probanly the easiest thing to do on this team. The most hilarious unforseen consequence of buying fellaini would probably be him fading away and I think fellaini is terrible player. But he is probably a better defemsive midfielder than carrick. Give me 15 million and I will upgrade carrick. Just do not buy it.
