npe, Mata started the season injured which didn't help and let's be honest when he has played he's been average this season.

Ok it can be argued that he hasn't always played in his favourite position or every game but that shouldn't be an excuse for great players.

Mata needs to up his game in my opinion because he is capable of so much better than what we've seen this season.

Superb, maybe, but he was good v Swansea...set eto up twice and created the move Mikel should've scored from.

Its partly confidence. Hazard has been good in patches (I know he scores more now but I am not convinced by him) and Oscar is great this season....but they both have been given huge votes of confidence...

Mata....nothing. I think Jose knew there would be a backlash if we sold him in the summer. Although he is strong enuogh in his convictions to take anyone on he is calculated.

For whatever reason, sincere or not, subjective or objective, he doesnt like Mata....and it is better for him to phase him out....deprive him of rythm....prevent hi from showing his ability...and selling him in the summer fr less fuss.

Ok, there is a slight conspiracy tone to my view....which isnt massively credible...

but I find some of the Mata criticisms this season a little bit desperate. Although I agree he has been mostly meh.

As for Jose I think he does rate Mata highly but has just struggled to adopt him into the way he wants to play (rightly or wrongly).

My criticisms of Jose make me not rate him for this current job. Not sure it counts as fear or runs as deep as mistrust. Meanwhile, as I said, irrationality is subjective. And as far as I am concerned, I am approaching the matters as objectively and as constructively as can be done.
