Juan Mata - what does the future hold?

What happens with us this season, won't really have any bearing on Mata and Spain.

Even when he was the 'star of the show' for us, he still couldn't displace Pedro or Silva for Spain.

Isco is currently performing at a higher standard than mata did last season

Mata is not like Berbatov. Berbatov just decides when he can be bothered to play. Mata doesn't do that at all. So often in tough tight games he has scrapped away and won us points through moments of excellence while the rest of the team are playing terrible.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Berbatov has won Leverkusen, Tottenham, United and Fulham many, many games all by himself. Don't be fooled by the older Berbatov, at Mata's age he was simply sublime.

Intelligent, elegant, technical and composed. Best words to describe them both... in addition to 'Can't defend'.

Mata worked his bollócks off at the Nou Camp and vs Bayern in the CL final.

Don't know where the myth that he doesn't work hard comes from. Lets not forget he plays for Spain who pretty much invented the pressing game that so many PL teams are trying to implement.

Any other manager treating Mata like Jose has would be hounded out of the club. It's ok for Chelsea fans to accept it, but for them to pretend to agree with it is pretty low. Along with Hazard he is your best player and it is ridiculous that Mourinho can't find a spot for him in the team.

Hope he is sold in January.

Don't tell Chelsea fans how they can and should feel

Funny you mention that, Rafa rotated Oscar and Hazard the same way Jose has Mata.

Most Chelsea performances have been average this season, too, which you have all admitted on numerous occasions. I think you played better towards the end of last season than you have at any stage of this season.

That probably has nothing to do with Mata, though

no one outside of Stamford bridge understands Jose not playing your best player. it's baffling.

I'm not sure (m)any at Chelsea get it either

We all know that isn't true so no reason to pretend otherwise.

TKT, it's all about system's. Team comes before single players.

Mata is better than Pedro individually, but Pedro suits the Spain system better.

RVP is United's best player, but some fans actually believe they are better/ more fluent when Rooney is the main forward.

Rafa liked to play Moses often because he offered a bit of balance.

Mata doesn't seem to be being rotated though, he's being frozen out and humiliated to be honest

He'll have to leave, will be our sacrificial martyr just as Ibra was to Inter (slightly different circumstances, but a similar sentiment).

I'm with the opposition on this one. I believe Mata is too good, especially for our team and what he gives to it, for any manager of ours not to make his offensive centrepiece. However, I do understand Jose's reservations about Mata's limitations in his system and am more than willing to accept any decisions he makes provided we get his commitment in return. What I don't what is a situation in 2015 where we're without Mata & Mourinho.

In fairness that's selective thinking. It may well be true but Benitez was juggling a 3 games a week schedule during the period you're referring too.

I don't understand or agree with Jose not playing Mata. It is pretty much the only thing that annoys me about Mourinho. It frustrates me so much when 'hard-working' Willian struggles to find the right pass when we're countering. Mata can see passes that nobody else in the team can see. He is a brilliant player and deserves to be playing week in week out and I wouldn't begrudge him a move away. Would be such a scandal if at the start of next season we are rid of Mata and yet still have Torres in our ranks.
