"Last season encouraged me that a style change was appearing...sure there were big blips and rocky patches...but things were looking up.."
Really? their was a brief spell at the start, but i never saw any 'signs' of good football under that, especially not under Benitez.
Yes their was the odd 1-2 from Hazard and Mata, but our worse games under Rafa (like say, Sparta at home) was up there with the dross we saw in 10/11.
Infact i will go as far as saying the match under Rafa in Bucharest was the worst i have ever seen us play (and that includes the early 90's).
Kings Road, clearly you have no understanding of Makelele if thats what you think.

Yeah. Mr Boring footy
And Pup is a pressing manager you fik
Even centre back have to chip in with their fair share of goals this day in age.
The day's of Nesta or Hansen barely reaching double figures in his whole career, are over.

Sorry, what has this got to do with anything?

Why dont you actually read Pep's biography or even a tactical brief on how he plays....
there is pressing, but the extent to which it occurs is largely exagerrated.
it's very intense pressing in specific regions of the ptich in very certain transitions.
And one thing we know he encourages is technical wizards a la Mata.

He'd love Oscar Hazard and Willian then

----------------------------------------------------------------------
He tackles, passes well, protects the back four well, but never let the rest do the job between their and goal.
He could still do that, but the importance off balance these days means he will have had to offered more going forward.
The game moves on, the sweeper role for example, there are probably people around that would have been great at that today, but instead are stacking shelves in tesco because the libero is dead in the water.
Look at keepers for example, it's becoming more and more important with every passing year, for keepers to be good with their feet, some of the great keepers of yesteryear would have had a lot of adapting to do in today's gam.
Well Kings, we will have to disagree...
West Ham home, Villa home, Basel home, Man Utd (2nd half) away, were some of my favourite ever performances by us.
Performances Jose has not come close to matching.
Also under RDM, Spurs away Arsenal away

The importance of balance in today's game, players have to be good at both aspects off the game.
Another example is full back, the general consensus if that Azpi should be at RB ahead of Ivan because he offers better link up play going forward. 10 years ago, it was defensive abilities first and anything else a mere bonus.
Let's examine this exhibit Kings
"After Fulham beat Chelsea in March 2006, manager Chris Coleman explained that he had designed his side’s tactics to bypass Makélélé through the wings in attack and pressurize him when Chelsea had the ball.
He explained that, ‘Makélelé is more than a mere defensive midfielder, but is actually Chelsea’s deep-lying playmaker, and Chelsea’s attacks are all channelled through him.
Thus, denying him possession was instrumental in unravelling Chelsea today.’
http://www.thehardtackle.com/2012/claude-makelele-%E2%80%93-the-position-the-player-and-the-man/"
It's a good article.
"No that was not his job "
No, not then, but now the game has evolved. Look at Vidal for example, he's a DM, but scored against us twice.
How many defensive mid's these days don't go forward?
Dani Alves was one of Pup's most important players.
To not start him, although he came on against us, cost him the semi final imo

He start's them, but he rarely got involved in the link up play further up the pitch, he would need to in today's game, especially if we played him in a double pivot.
No Kings....my view is Azpi is excellent defensively
And yes, he is better than Ivan offensively.
But if you are obssesed with the all around...I still prefer Mata to any of our other attacking mids....
sorry that's my opinion. You can say I am wrong. Great, do so.
However, this is getting increasingly circular. And I need sleep.
TCP, I love Pep, but I never claimed I want Barca.
You don't want pressing but you want Pup
Im not obsessed NPE, it's just the way the game is today, the teams that win titles attack and defend as a team
Really Kings, Mr Zidane disagrees
