Juan Mata - what does the future hold?

Kings....

your point about systems is very dubious.

Mata's pressing is very much underrated here, and I think assumptions are made about his lack of defensive capability. I also don't like how some people have tried to trash talk him and say he is a luxury player who doesnt play for the team.

I think ou team is really missing the creativity and guile he used to provide. Jose talks about lack of goals etc. thats not just a forwards issue you know?

As the article earlier said, I think Mata isn't played becuase Jose hates creativity or anything resembling a risk to shape.

It is impossible to credibly compare Dortmund to Chelsea for that reason, as they may press, however, rigidness in shape is not anywhere near as prevalent in their game as it to this current chelsea horror show.

TCP - so who crossed for the first goal - Gael Clichy?

Kings Road, you may say that, however, the football as in actual football, has been woeful this season.

I also think that the way we played against Liverpool explains why we do terribly against the lesser teams...

Look at you defending Torres' 1 goal

Even with the creativity he provided under AVB/Rafa/RDM, we still had our fair share of beyond dire games.

He does press decent, but does he do it to the same extent Willian and Oscar do? It's not his fault, players have their own strength's.

The Chelsea forum i visited after the City game at Eastland's last season had people saying how exposed the pivot is when he is at #10 and how Yaya ruthlessly exploited that.

I said exclusively not forwards, dimbus.

No, TCP, I was simply saying you should give him credit when due. I gave Mikel credit on several occasions.

Well, surely that is simply an illumination of the defficiency in our pivot above anything else....

Name a big game this season in which Yaya was kept quiet.........??

Torres' prem goals stats please.
How many ?
And you are trying to blame Jose for it

I also think Kings Road...all you prove there is maybe Mata shouldnt play no10 vs City away.

It doesnt prove why he shouldn't be our most common no10, or even at least be part of the rotation.

That's been a problem since 10/11. It's hardly like Jose has took over our double winning side.

Mata has made 32 appearances for Spain, yet people on here think he can't play a pressing game

As I have said, you are just believing the BS being spoon fed by Mourinho.

In the Summer when the media were saying he didn't fancy Mata and Luiz, you all said it was bullshít and that Jose wasn't that stupid. Now it turns out the media were right and Jose is a genius.

Without him in the three we lack the ability, particularly this ability, to unlock a tight back four.

We had dire games yes, lit up often by Mata.

If you want an honest opinion - what would i sacrifice, our preessing ability by 2-3% (and as Gazza said - our gameplan wasnt a template one - it worked for liverpool in spells but that's it)...

or our creativity, edge, and guile....and honeslty, a lot of the joy he provides me watching football.

I dont want us to be a result grinding team. We should aspire for better.

And your comment on my posting was a weird one. Just becuase thats what chelsea used to do and aspire for, is it not right to change ideas, and philosophies and look for better?

If the club allow Mata to leave then it is clear that Jose is going to be here for a long time.

So true. If Mata and Luiz do leave, it will be farcical too

What I'm finding really frustrating at the moment is that people are waxing lyrical over Willian when his best assets relate purely to the defensive side of his game.

An attacker has to offer a lot more in attack than Willian's currently providing. Mata may not been as pacy or defensively sound but at the moment he's streets ahead of Willian in terms of creativity. If we had a decent striker and a better midfield we'd absolutely kill teams with Mata in the side. Mata created two golden opportunities for Eto'o against Swansea. I rarely see Willian setting up a goalscoring chances. Tackles yes... Assists not so much.

I think a lot of us fans have been tricked into thinking this rigid football we're playing this season is actually an amazing pressing game. But in reality we've had to rely massively on hazard's brilliance and have had some seriously dire performances.

We are without a doubt a less creative and potent team without Mata in the side. And as much as he doesn't offer us defensively (which i think has been massively exaggerated) - he offers us so so much more in attack.

TCP , I preferred that game and the attempt to play than the ghastly 0-0 camp out at the Emirates

And also, I get why you hate that game, it highlighted JT's deficiencies. And why Luiz is so much better.

If you were not such a baby you would listen to why Jose had to defend the second half. He couldn't keep up the pressing game after 2 subs were used in the first half
