POUND FOR POUND CHAMPION

Everton are arguably the biggest underachievers in Premiership history unfortunately.

The end.

posted on 7/1/14

That's true Rap

They did well to get as much as they did for Rodwell though, fair play on that.

To compare Barkley (a great young talent), to Suarez, is anything but reasonable.

Rodwell ?
Who claimed that?
First time I have heard that one.

Now Barkley.....

Righteous,
Suarez will go for £70 million eventually.

How much do you think Barkley will go for eventually?

In 3-4 years at his current progress.......

comment by righteous1 (U7048)posted 1 hour, 15 minutes agoNot really Voice. The answer is obvious, so I am not sure what point you are trying to make? It's not a debate is it?Everton are roughly as good as us, and they cost less, therefore they got better value. What next, a debate on who is better, Messi or Tony Hibbert?

====

Thats not even a debate. Its Hibbert by a mile. Lets see Messi play RB and CB.....

He could score when he wants old Tony....Has there ever been a pitch invasion a Messi goal in a friendly?

Impossible to tell.

He could start getting injured (as many young English players do), he could lose his way.

Transfer inflation could go mental.

He looks exceptionally talented, but it's peeing in the wind to try and guess what his value might be in a few years.

As I said.

At his current rate of progress

We have won as many premierships as Liverpool but at the fraction of the cost,so as regards the history of the premiership Liverpool stand head and shoulders above everyone else in the failure stakes.

Be proud of the reds

He's prgressing about as well as Sterling in truth. There is no progress after 19 games and 3 goals that is tangible.

Coaches will study him, players will learn how to play against him and teams will double up. It's that point that we can judge some progress - not in January. That's just silly.

Remember when Keiron Dyer looked like he was going to be world class? Michael Johnson? Theo? Ronnie Walwork?

posted on 7/1/14

Still too many other variables.

Remember Michael Johnson? He was the Barkley of his day for a while.

Suarez is world class right now and performing at the level of the best in the world.

Barkley is very talented and playing as well as any young midfielder in the country. He might one day be worth more than Suarez is today, then again he might not.

You writin nonsense again. Everton were massive and were winning leagues when we were. Now you've not won a thing in 2 decades and never been aboe fourth.

This ain't boxing. There is no pound for pound. It's no weight restrictions and we beat you up.

Robbing,

Silly statement that.
We can only measure the progress of a young player by his goal return?

Phil: newsflash...football didn't begin in 1992

You dont get to ignore history to suit your argument

Tell robbing that, check the posts above and it's your fellow red that said that, not me I just pointed to the fact that neither team has won the premiership.

-----------------------

I didn't say that. Jesus wept.

I said there is no tangible progress as there is nothing to measure it on. You need a base line and he just does not have one.

I like Barkley but history is littered with players who should have gone onto great things. This is not an English phenomenon (remember denilson?) but the fact our lads get drunk and go roasting every weekend tends to lead a few astray,

Personally I hope he makes it and realises his potential. We'll know in about 5 years. Not months.

Respected.

Correct.
We all know football only started in 1965

Barkley will probably win that this year, look at the past winners.

Some stellar names no doubt, also some not so stellar ones.

They don't all go on to be £70m players.

" There is no progress after 3 goals in 19 games that is tangible"

Did I misunderstand you?

posted on 7/1/14

Yes.

You focused on the goals, when the small number of games was the more pertinent part.

Yes.

Why we're goals mentioned then?

Why not "after 19 games"

posted on 7/1/14

Regarding the Barkley issue.

What do you consider tangible progress, the lad already is performing at a level that most other premiership players will never achieve.

So how do you measure progress if his starting point is far higher than most players already.
