Against himself of course.
So lets say he plays 38 games and scores 6 goals.
Then next season plays the same games but with bigger influence then he will have made progress.
At the moment I'm presuming you think he has progressed from his loan spell at Wednesday. Congrats. He got a bit older.
So you are measuring the progress on goals?

Phil: you are measuring your clubs success off the fact that Liverpool haven't won the title since the Premier League era began.
Anyway, Hoody's argument is that for a club that supposedly looks great on paper, you have yet to crack the top 4. Whereas Liverpool have done it numerous times...
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Last 2 seasons we have finished 1 place above you previous 2 seasons we finished a place below you.Recent history suggests that their is not much on the pitch wise between both squads.Only one side needs to spend £30million every transfer window to compete with a club that's basically penniless.
I'd question your manager and his eye for a player as something ain't right on that side of things
FFS. No I'm measuring it on him as a whole. Goals are finite so that bit is easy. You then have the off the ball stuff, key passes, selection of passes, tackling and so on. Now I do not have his pro-zone data to hand but you can't say he has progressed when he has not even started. What exactly are you saying he has progressed from?
This is not a hard concept to be honest.
Would any of you swap him for any (all) of your current midfielders?
I would swap him for Joe Allen.
I don't have his pro zone rats myself.
I do have a pair of eyes though, that is good enough for me to pass judgement.
Are you seriously saying he hasn't progressed from last season?
I would swap Dave Allen for Joe Allen
From the 9 games he made? I guess and so he should. Don't be thinking it's exponential though.
What is fair to say that this is the first time that he has regularly started games at an elite level and he's doing very well. Good. Next season will be the time to say he has progressed. The rest is just lip service.

Ask them what they were like when Sterling came on the scene.
Ask them how many of them said wait on we'll wait and see after 50 or 100 games and see how he progresses compared to those who made article after article professing that the lad is world class .
Let's see their responses
So you agree he has progressed then?
Good,that's that one sorted
Hahaha, you're a bit of a twát like Phil really arn't you.
Jordan Rossiter has progressed so you can suck my balls.
You resorting to personal insults and swearing already Robbing,it's not even 9pm here in the UK so it's well before the watershed.
You forget I know all your little ways of manipulating the conversations and I have a good memory of these boards when Sterling burst on the scene.
I did say wait until he gets a season under his belt before you pass judgement just as you have with Barkley and I was told I was only an Evertonian and didn't have a clue.
Moved the goalposts somewhat now the pundits and the press are fawning over an Everton player.
May I also say the coverage Sterling got in inconsequential compared to that Barkley is getting.
Very intellectual retort Robbing.
In the lack of an argument you can present and having contradicted yourself re Barkleys progress.
Point being that what you have to say should be totally ignored as you are a total gobshiite of the highest order.
Couldn't resist sinking to your level Robbing but eh ho you gotta have some times that you slum it
I have just re-read your post and I can confirm it's bollox. What Sterling has to do with it I do not know but for what it's worth I think what you said about Sterling is very prudent. I'd be very surprised if I disagreed with that although I have few doubts he'll go on to be a very good player indeed as I do Barkley. You know that myself and other people are entirely seperate entities and I have no control over what they say or do right? I'm just checking.
So what exactly is your point and what does Sterling have to do with Ross Barkley or this rather poor article?
This article is the equivalent of a girl saying;
"Do I look nice?"
"Yeah, you do, now suck my balls!"
Just so I know for future debate as a new poster Robbing.
Can I expect your immature behaviour to be the norm when you dig a hole for yourself while engaging in an exchange of opinions?

I have not contradicted myself. Progress is open to opinion and you feel you can put some perameters on it. I have. I'm saying the starting point is his first full season. That is not unreasonable. You are though and your petty clinging on to a point negates from debate in which I wrote hundreds of words involving the technicalities of his game and his career to date. You came back with one sentence mundane insecurities. So don't say I have not presented an argument. It's laughable.

There she blows, congratulations Robbing you lasted over half an hour before you lost it this time.
Those anger lesson classes must be working.
Sterling as well as Barkley burst on the scene and caused pundits to fawn over them, both are young both English and both play for Merseyside clubs.
One had a multitude of articles claiming that 'he is World class' the other burst on the scene 12 months later and we are being told you can't judge him till he has had more games as he needs to show he's progressing.I know Liverpool supporters love double standards but even you must believe you have overstepped the mark as a group of gobshiites here

That post would make sense if I ad taken that stance with Sterling. I didn't so your point is moot.

In an attempt to encourage debate I could always take a hint from your good self and exclaim "suck my balls"
Liverpool strive to be the best.
Everton strive to be better than Liverpool.
That's the massive difference and why, in the grand scheme of things, Everton are insignificant and won't achieve anything of note in the foreseeable future.
Even since 1992 we've won a hell of a lot more than your lot, including a European trophy. How many of those do you have?
