If in the near future you have no players on your books that have won a trophy with liverpool, what will your stance be then.

Look at the players you have left who have won a trophy with liverpool and there is every possibility in the next couple of years they'd be sold or retired.

How can it be desperate. I have just made sure people know that this current crop have not won a trophy.

Simple really, you trying to claim a victory here?

That would depend on where we are in relation to Everton. Since I can't predict the future, I'll wait until that occurs.

Playing squad comparison v money spent
I thought that the wording in the article heading made that pretty obvious to be honest.

So as long as you retain one player who has won a trophy with you then you are automatically a better value for money team than us?

I would suggest that an impartial viewer, something I realise is as rare as hen's teeth where footie is concerned, would be more likely to say Everton's team demonstrate better value.

In the last five years you have spent, net, just under £18m per season for the return of one trophy and two seasons finishing above us and we have spent £-2.5m net per season for no trophies and two finishes above you. If you consider £105m net spend more than us over that period for the return of a Carling Cup as a clear sign of better value for money fair enough but may I humbly suggest you'd be in the minority there. Admittedly not in this thread though.

No don't be silly. Using what I said and not your theoretical scenario means it.

Voice of Reason

I've made my points about 'value for money'. In order to define value for money you need money spent, and achievements. What have Everton achieved for the money they've spent? Genuine question.

How does Everton's achievements (if any) mean their spend is more valuable than Liverpool's?

That make it any easier for you Toor ?

Coutinho,

See my explanation to Toor above re original post.
It is a simple question really

Phil

You're saying Rodgers cold sores are to do with stress, and not one of the vast amount of insults VOR refers to?

You didn't claim, on another thread, they are to do with a Twitter rumour?

Which crop. Well as you made a statement that no everton player has won a trophy for everton, would you care to clarify?

You made the incorrect statement....unless you mean this current crop, then you agree with me? You seem tied up in knots here.

Ok, obviously you're ignoring the 2nd part of my post.

So you're saying that as long as you retain those players you could spend millions refreshing the rest of the team and would still be better vfm because you have players who won a trophy at some point? I really don't that's a valid argument my friend.

Coutinho,

As far as I can see,no Everton fan has used the uncouth language that Robbing uses on more than one occasion on this thread.
It is not big and it is not clever.
As a matter of fact he belittles himself and his perceived point by doing so.

No everton players *** a simple typo

I think a lot of the angst Robbing,Toor,Coutinho etc show is an indication of the fear they feel as the pendulum swings ever faster towards Everton becoming indisputably the better team on Merseyside.
Without a doubt we have the superior squad.
One can almost smell the fear from our neighbours.

I said Everton players, not former players.

Present tense not past.

No, you still haven't given your reasons.

Having the only trophy winning manager out of the 2 clubs also must be a worry for them.

Martinez has proven he is a winner, alas Brendan so far has not, they can't play the age card because they are of a similar age.I suspect they will go down a different route to discredit Martinez's achievement

A superior squad for a pittance compared to your squad and net spend.

Hence.....Which team got the best value for money?

No, again I'm saying what I said that with the squad of players we've bought, we have more value for money as this money has went towards winning trophies.

Why don't you comment on what is actually happening rather than the theoreticals?

I applaud Martinez' achievement. I wanted him at Liverpool, I rate him highly. If we're comparing the two, I think they're both very similar but I think we have to give them more than five minutes at each club to see how they mould the clubs.
