Finances are a valid reason for not winning the title, just about, although you may expect one in the last decade.
They are not a valid reason for seeing 4th as success though.
^ at the end of the day, to a football club - yes they are.
so why are you all so positive we knocked you out your last winnable trophy?
Well of course we are not pleased about being knocked out, but the manner in which we played was far far better than our last visit to the Emirates.
I think any club approaching a whole decade without silverware should be very concerned.
Is there a so called 'big' club in Europe that have gone that long without silverware ?
whats to be concerned about? I'd rather be stable than crash completely, trophies will come
Just to add my two cents, arsenal have been saying for at least the last year or two that they have money to spend, and yet Wenger hasn't spent it. I would blame Wenger for that rather than financial restraint.
Also to the clown who used the property crash as a valid reason... I think you'll find that property values in London haven't crashed at all and continue to rise at a ludicrous rate. no other club would be able to sell their old stadium for the kind of money you've made out of Highbury, which seriously helped your stadium financing. Also I blame arsenal's commercial directors for locking them into ten year sponsorship deals worth a pittance of what their rivals by now receive.
It wasn't like arsenal had to buy an entire new stadium, it's effectively an upgrade like united had, just took longer. Think what an field would fetch if we moved out. It would be nothing compared to the price of a new stadium
Liverpool fans are dumb we beat you with near enough a reserve team out. The first pen was a soft one anyway so justice was done. You've cheated against us in the past so about time for once something goes our way. Why no one is crediting Arsenal for winning after making 7 changes I'll never know.
People are crediting arsenal with winning. We're just saying it's not like you played us off the park. I would define it a a 'scraped' victory, which is just as valid, but doesn't really deserve any plaudits imo. Congrats on your victory and I hope you beat everton.

Sturridge was crying after the game, I assume you'll agree that it's over the top as it was a meaningless match we had no right celebrating over?

Nevertheless, the Highbury development didn't achieve what was forecast, rendering your 'point' invalid.

Yes, because we were given the Ashburton Grove site for free, weren't we?
Oh wait...

This thread ran on didn't it
Overall....as we seem to agree Arsene has done an average job and been fortunate that the club and its fans have been so patient
If he signs a new deal he needs to take a pay cut and make up the rest in bonuses for actually winning stuff - do we all agree on this?
If Rafa can win the CL from 4th place in the league then there is no reason Arsene in all his attempts shouldn't of been able to
1. 3 PL titles with thread bare investment. One title in which he went through the league season unbeaten. If you call that average, hate to see what Liverpool's have been like the last 20 years.
2. Never knew you were dealing with Wenger's contract, or why you would even care about it. Are you Kroenke in disguise?
3. Rafa isn't a patch on Wenger. Never was, never will be. Top class managers actually win the ultimate prize. The English League title.
BTW, Rafa winning the CL proves without a shadow of a doubt that luck plays a major role in winning the European Cup. It actually takes consistency and quality to win the league title. But you'd already know that, as a Pool fan.....

Are Arsenal's league titles even relevant any more? How far back do we have to go before it's written off as history and has no meaning?

THIS. From a Liverpool fan?!

Look. Guys. We're sorry we beat you on Sunday. We really are. Promise it won't happen again this season. Ok? Can we all hug now?
Maybe give him a pay rise for this 'amazing' job of lifting the 4th place trophy.
Perhaps the club can increase the prices even more to pay for it
It's all going to end in tears eventually, until it does we'll have more of the same. Bonne Chance!
