Arsenal 2 - 1 Liverpool

Overall Arsenal you'd be pushed to argue that have really improved after many years. It looks that things could go exactly the same way as the previous 8 seasons. The clearest sign for me was the club enters January in a great position, has a real opportunity to make a statement and strengthen the team but Wenger ends up signing only a stop gap player that it turns out is actually injured! It doesn't demonstrate a real ambition to take it on and turn a good opportunity into real trophies

You couldn't deny that BR has improved Liverpool and this season they are making strides. Do you honestly think a top 4 place is enough. Not at all. A season to get back to a CL level (even if it only gives us a chance in the qualifying competition) but the ambition is to win things. BR won't be worried by 'financial doping' and making excuses, he'll be too busy trying to find a way to compete!

There is a big difference in philosophies....Arsene is holding Arsenal back now, has been for a few years

Im gutted we lost

I'm gutted we lost as I thought we had a good chance of winning it if we went through and Arsenal getting to the next round is waste.

Another entertaining game from LFC though and we seem to be improving all the time. Happy with that and I hope there is a good reaction against Swansea.

Can't argue with the ref issue, no one can.
---------------------
He fell the wrong way for the actual penalty!! Yes there was contact but he could have stayed on his feet but he's dishonest and therefore no longer gets the benefit of doubt from refs. It's tough luck, stop diving and rolling around.

Has anyone commented on Arsenals blatant penalty yet?

The more decisions Howard Webb fails to give rivals the more credence he gives to the idea that he's a United fan!

A penalty is a penalty no matter who the player is.

Ox was in the area when Suarez took him out.

Would've been harsh to have awarded us a penalty though.

I think Liverpool FC are a top club and wish them the very best for the rest of the season.

"The first two are very salient points. We were the better team,; more possession, more shots on target, more chances, we played better football"

How many games do you think Arsenal have done that in the last 9 years and not won?
Arsenal fans are all experts in "dominating" and not winning.

"You were lucky that our strikers were profligate yesterday when they have been so clinical in recent months. You were lucky that Webb bottled a major decision."

Not finishing chances is not luck, it's not providing the quality required at that moment and not being clinical.
Can't argue with the ref issue, no one can.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

And does it not annoy you when you dominate a game and lose? So then you can see why some Liverpool fans are wound up about the result.

You were lucky that the best strike partnership in the league this season had an off day. They've both been clinical this season so for them to have so many chances yesterday and not score one, is lucky for you.

comment by Robbing_Hoody - Here, have some goals. You don't have to work for them. They're a gift. That's what we do now. (U6374)

Is that an indirect compliment of your blue neighbours?

How do you mean? I'm just saying a possible winner went out. I don't feel particularly bitter about it, I just don't think you'll win it. Why would I?

posted on 17/2/14

Do you honestly believe he's committed to winning any more?

The years of convincing everyone that 4th place is enough and what a great job I'm doing. It's all nonsense...he's had more than enough time for the club to have never had to worry about new money coming into the game.

SAF has shown that Arsene's excuses are complete rubbish!

surely if you beat a possible winner then you become a possible winner yourself?

Suarez hasn't scored against us this season in three attempts.

Flamini coming back yesterday was huge for us.

Had he played at Anfield we'd probably have won that match too.

At this moment in time Liverpool need champions league more than a trophy.

For arsenal, perhaps it's time for the opposite to be true.

Lol come on, statistically it is but I'd take Aguero and Negredo every single day of the week.
