All the micro consumerism like bamboo toothbruth's doesnt mean sh!t really. If people really want to make a difference they should switch to a plant based diet, don't use aeroplanes and stop having cats.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I agree with you but not on methodology.
Not eating meat is a concept I personally think is a bit daft. We are evolved to eat meat and it's major part of human diet.
So I should stop eating meat in order to bring the world to a place where I can finally eat eat again or what? What happens if we manage to control global warming and everything is ok? Do we start eating meat again?
Also, not eating meat is not a reasonable solution because not enough people will buy into it, no doubt. Not enough people would ever stop eating meat. If we are realistic, only a fraction of people will see this as an option, never enough to make an impact, so I feel it's doomed as a strategy.
One of the best ways to make a difference is to vote in leaders who have proper plans to do things that can tackle climate change and actually make a great difference. Voting in the right leaders and policies on a national and international level would accomplish more.
If there was greater demand for green policies, then political parties would have no choice but to gravitate towards that. They gravitate towards what people want.
By the election results, you can see what people's priorities are, usually money first and then the rest a few light years back. For instance, the consevatives in the UK are the last person that would do something green, especially if it costs any money. They are more about the economy and win elections by telling people that they'll make a better life for the nation alone and by having an inward looking focus, but climate change is a global problem and many treaties and accords between countries are likely to make it to that harder. So they tend to ignore or rip up green laws and treaties and kill any ideas to hay lead to loss of money and by doing so, still somehow actually manage to fail to fulfil their campaign promises.
Corbyn lost badly because there is little appetite for his policies and even if there is, then it's lagging far behind the list of priorities of the electorate, but they arguably stand far more chance of actually changing the world and solving climate change.
Americans voted for Trump who technically is a climate change denier and ripped up climate change accords on his first day in the job. A lot of things had to be shelved because of the USAs attitude and years have been lost.
That demonstrates what the priorities are IMO. It's all about how successful a politician can make the country and how much money they can put in pockets. Such an approach is not good news for the prospects of climate change action and changing that approach is difficult, but still a more realistic aim than trying to get people not to eat meat in my opinion.

And we've no game until Monday!
Imagine this thread by then? Come on pranks how's the dogs birthday party going?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
We took Daisy to Send in Surrey to a big property with a massive open green area where she visited with her brothers and mum.
2 hours in the sunshine with nice people and the dogs had a great time.
Mummy dog was a bit overwhelmed but Daisy was patient and had a few moments with her.
We then had a nice BBQ and the dogs had some meat.
A lovely day, she’s tired today though.

You dont half talk some bollox bud. I thought the Savannah one was bad but this mess... are you just willfully contrary?
You don't have to stop eating meat, just eat less. We were not evolved to eat red meat every day at all plus it gives you cancer. There is no down side to this.
By saying not enough people will do it, well not enough people will vote for the green party will they but you can only account for yourself.
Humans eating meat is one of the biggest contributors to humans accelerating climate change. It's not up for debate, it's simply a fact.
Eating meat every day is a very modern thing, since the second world war at best, driven by American farming industry propoganda.
I have no issue with eating meat as a Flexitarian just be mindful tbh, don't have beef every week, make it a treat, help yourself to nicer meats like British venison, which is ecologically helpful to consume as it's culled deer that are destroying Scottish woodland, cut down to three times a week for your evening meal, stop eating it at lunchtime etc..
Do it slowly, i used to be a big ridiculous alpha male meat lover exactly like you are being, pouring scorn on the idea of being responsible for my own environmental impact, but I phased it out for the good of the environment when only Quorn was a realistic substitute, now that there's other alternatives like Vivera, Vegetarian Butcher, "Like". Etc I actually find I don't even like to have meat that much when it is available.
If I buy any it's grass fed free range meat, it doesn't make sense from a resource perspective to shove 10g of plant protein in to a cow for every 1g of meat protein you eat.
Whilst we may be able to tolerate cooked meats, our Physiology is that of a Frugivore, especially in the mouths.

Fack off 1% of airplane users are responsible for over 50% of airplane emissions. How about stop lecturing the working class families saving up for 5 years to take a flight to Spain and tell all those elite caants to stop taking 20 "business trips" per year. Also humans are omnivores, not herbivores. If your diet relies on supplements it is not a viable diet.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Anyone seen Seaspiracy? It seems commercial fishing is the biggest danger to the planet. Some of the figures quoted on that are staggering.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It was great, I've seen a few "debunking" articles but follow the money and a lot of them are written by people working for that dolphin safe/sustainably fished label
One of the ones I read seemed to completely miss the point and claimed the documentary missed an "open goal" by not focusing on the lack of regulation in the fishing industry.. which was MY main take away from the documentary.. that and I should donate more money to sea shepherd so that they can drop more of the drag net busting boulders..
Ironically of course fish stocks in some areas of the world have bounced back due to measures like the EUs much maligned Common fisheries policy..
We should of course also remember that fish too are carbon based lifeforms, and them swimming in the sea means more carbon trapped in the seas.

I’m disgusted with FSG, to be honest. First the furloughing shambles and now this nonsense, it’s pure utter greed. It’s not Liverpool football club at all, not is it representative of its supporters and the city itself.
It sounds like we are one of the main driving parties. I’m so disappointed in the club.

thats whut u get 4 getting intoo bed with Red Sox
I'm emotionally invested in supporting the club so will still watch the team if they are in the super league but the games will be boring when you play Madrid a few times in a season with no relegation.
There is no product for the PL without the top six clubs.

I thought the idea was just to replace the champions League, Not to move from the actual domestic league?
Looks like FIFA is trying to stamp it out, but that seems like a massive overreach of an unelected global body tbh. One that seems to hate the English.
Pure sh!thousery to do it the day before the CLs new format gets announced fully.
I dont like their changes to that either.
Part of me likes UEFA and FIFA bricking it a bit, they've been demonstrably corrupt over the years, but logistically I don't fancy it at all.
Yeah, the whole thing is a disgrace
However, watching UEFA and FIFA, literally two of the most corrupt organisations on the planet suddenly jumping on their high horse about morals and integrity, well that takes the facking biscuit.
What’s the format, does anyone know yet

I feel it says a lot that none of the clubs involved want to talk about it.
I imagine they are taking time to re-assess their position Robbing. If not, they should be.
