MLS hasn't even been around for 3 decades yet so I wouldn't exactly say that is has been around for decades.

Eh?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You've said it has "been around for decades" which to me implies you think it's been around for a considerable amount of time. 27 years is hardly a long time in the footballing world.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
27 years. More than one decade, so that makes it decades.

When did you last watch it? The players over there are of better standard than you would realise. Yes, not in the same league as the top European brackets, but still better.
The better players in the league are capable of competing at Premier League level, which is some way from when Bradley Wright-Phillips was competing in League One for the likes of Charlton and Brentford.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I’ve seen bits, mainly when I’ve put bets on. It’s very ordinary, a level above Aussie football but no better than Championship level at best.

This is a good point.
I don't watch MLS at all so have no idea of the general standard and it's comparison to 10 or 20 years ago. But the US team seems to have a decent group of players atm. In the past they've had a Dempsey or a Donovan but atm they got Pulisic, Reyna, Dest, McKennie - all playing at high profile clubs. Can only help the profile (and participation) of the sport if they've got examples of players that have made it in Europe.
I dont feel the culture is there in the MLS or football in general in the US.
They actually have so many sports that's monopolised by them. Basketball, baseball, American football, hockey...football is below all of them on the priority list culturally.

That shows how much it's developing for me.
Anyone see Trinity Rodmans goal the other day (Dennis Rodmans daughter)?
It's a fine first touch tbf.
They'll get good at it because they invest, in fact I see to help scout English lads that have been released here to go there on a scholarship, but good in a way like Argentina play rugby.

Their sports facilities in schools are absolutely ridiculous. Texas has high school stadiums bigger than Dean Court or whatever Bournemouth's stadium is called now.

Why would we when they are getting paid plenty at the top franchises in the MLS? Clubs from Europe will be pretty unlikely to buy players getting paid as much as they do and besides it costs a fair bit to scout over in that region anyway for clubs, so why bother.

MLS has improved massively over the last 10 years or so and I don't doubt there are many players there that would be able to play at PL level as well.

The majority of the fans who are against it will in a few years be there in the stand supporting their team. We will have a new generation of fans who rather watch LFC vs Barca than Brighton or Burnley.
I don't have sympathy for the PL and Sky as they were the ones who started this 30 years ago. I felt in love with the English game when most clubs had shte pitches, there was passion in the stands and tackling was allowed in the game.
