Really didn't think that would happen. Ah well, maybe we will bring in a third midfielder. I certainly hope do if he's leaving.

Do worry about City selling this kid to Burnley, Gerrard is going to bid £80m for Hendo! 👀

For the record I don’t think Hendo goes, losing him and Milly at once would be a massive loss.

Apparently another Saudi club want Thiago too.

If rumours are to believed it sounds like he is offski.
Brilliant player but he’s getting on now and when it comes to being regularly he’s about as reliable as a chocolate teapot.

Hopefully we get a good fee for him.

Regularly available*

£20m or something maybe? If we got the £25m we paid back, that'd be pretty good business.

That’s what they paid for Koulibaly who’s the same age so hopefully yep

Although those clubs gave the same owners which gave Chelsea a slight advantage admittedly

Disappointed if he goes, would have liked to have kept him for this season. Up to three new midfielders, Thiago would help with the transition.

Understand why the club would sell him though. We’ve lost several for no fees and he’s one of our top earners. I’d imagine our three (?) new midfielders combined won’t be far off his salary.

Yeah tbf I'm not going to complain about not losing yet another player leave on a free, as I've found it quite annoying.

That's a whole lot of experience leaving in one summer though and I'm not too sure that's a good thing at the moment. Makes the AMA signing all the more important in that regard.

If we lose Thiago though we need 2 more midfielders. 4 in 4 out. I know we didn’t have Ox or Keita for most of last year but midfield felt light.

Our midfield if Thiago leaves:

Hendo
Fab
Mac
Szob
Jones
Bajcetic
Elliott

I don't think Lavia is the right call. We can't have a project player taking Thiago spot in the squad. Midfield already has 2 project players in it. We will defo need a 4th midfielder.

Liverpool are still leading the race to sign Khephren Thuram even though Bayern have shown interest in the midfielder.

The German club are yet to make any contact with OGC Nice but they want to compete with Liverpool.

Agree with Kash. If Thiago goes I feel we'll need a bona-fide international footballer with some trophies to his name, which is a tough find in this market.

Haha, yeah I said the same above, but one more on top.

If we're pivotal game, like a Europa final, I want to be able field some proper experience. It counts for an awful lot.

Thiago salary is pretty significant, if we get a decent fee I wonder whether a surprise might be on the cards. Barella? Valverde?

posted on 3/7/23

That would be awesome, but I reckon Gravenberch, Thuram and maybe Kone are the targets. Gravenberch has a bit of experience and I do like him as a player.

Going to have to get my shoulder drop fix from Bajcetic now though if Thiago leaves.

If we're signing a new midfielder surely its got to be a DM, we've got 5 midfielders who could play in the front 2 of the box midfield but only fab and bajcetic for dm. Baj isn't ready to take that on if fab gets injured, nor do i think trent + hendo/mac would work (mac was next to caicedo when he dropped deep for brighton)

posted on 4/7/23

Yeah we definitely need a more defensive minded midfielder. Lavia is also HG so probably why we're targeting him

Had a quick search to see what the noise was around Thiago - rumours of Saudi, Galatasaray, Barca, staying put.

Feels to me like journalists are reacting to a social media change and just guessing.

Don't think Hendo leaves tbh!

Could see Matip being a good buy for Gerrard though, still more than good enough to play over there.
