He also needs to find a way to get the best out of Dom and Grav. The talent is clearly there but both have had poor 2024s

Do u guys think Rodgers at Swansea before we signed him was better than say Gary O’Neil is now?

Fair question

On the pitch is where most of our worries should be tbh. Klopp is elite with almost every aspect that's required when it comes to how the squad performs throughout the week and ensuring we're prepared for our matches...and he is still there every training session too.

It's not like a Fergie thing who delegated the day-to-day stuff to his coaches.

It's pretty obvious that our setup behind the scenes and away from the pitch is replicating everything we did when we hired Klopp. No doubt the experience those guys have from 2015 to 2018 will help make it easier for whoever it is that comes in as our first team coach.

For me in layman's terms, it should just be everyone agreeing on the type of profile of the players that the new coach would want in every position and then Hughes and his team finding the best candidates.

What about Alguacil of Real Sociedad? They’ve been a solid team for the last few years. Don’t know much about him though.

Yeah, I do. He'd taken Swansea up from the Championship and then with the newly promoted team, took them to 11th. And did so playing a very technical possession style of football. He did that on the back of spending £7m - nothing really in EPL terms.

I think Rodgers has become a bit of a figure of fun. Some of it fair because of the daft sh*t he says, but he's also done ok as a football manager.

I know it's Celtic but back to back trebles is still an achievement. Did well and won the FA Cup with Leicester, again an achievement.

He's not an elite manager, wasn't good enough for us. But he's an mid-table EPL manager imo.

Apparently he’s a great coach but also a complete pr!ck, which I find very believable.

Honestly Rodgers just needs to realise that at every club since Swansea, the more control he gained, the more backwards the team went.

There’s an incredible story about a player questioning his tactics ant Leicester and apparently Rodgers just pointed at his belt buckle and said, ‘Gucci’.

More Brent than Brent.

Apparently there's a few wild stories about him...even from his time at Swansea.

He does talk absolute sheet though...that can never be debated.

Rodgers was a crap manager generally, just had the third best player in the world on his team.

Always makes me wary of a Klopp-less future tbh. I know others will disagree but I see a few years battling for top four again rather than being title candidates.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I think on balance that’s kind of where we’ve been anyway. The seasons in between the genuine challenge’s we’ve been in a struggle for top four.

I think what probably sums him up as a man is he started having an affair with someone 10+ years his junior pretty much as soon as he got the Liverpool job.

Very much came across as though now he'd made it he needed an upgrade on his wife.

I didn't like Rodgers as a manager at the time and was glad he was sacked. He just changed systems throughout the game without knowing why he did change the system. I remember a game where we started in a 433 then went to a 4231and finished with a 343.

posted on 17/4/24

He never should have changed from the 3-4-3 so late in the season when it was a system that actually got the best out of what we had.

If memory serves we went something like 14 games unbeaten with that formation to make a late push for top 4, but then lost against United so he completely abandoned it and went back to the 4-3-3 that had routinely failed all season.
