He never should have changed from the 3-4-3 so late in the season when it was a system that actually got the best out of what we had.

If memory serves we went something like 14 games unbeaten with that formation to make a late push for top 4, but then lost against United so he completely abandoned it and went back to the 4-3-3 that had routinely failed all season.

Yeah LVG put Fellaini on Emre Can and it was a aerial mismatch so then abandoned the whole system.

Weird because they’ve looked so good all year, especially defensively. Just like us their season has disintegrated rapidly.

Hopefully they are collapsing, great to see them knocked out. Arsenals greatest European night remains as Liverpool beating Spurs in the 2019 final.

look at their def numbers this season tthey put the work in clearly, by far the lowest shots faced on their goal etc and they dont have as much of the ball as city.

most the first half of the season they looked sheit but grinded out results. 2nd part of it started scoring a bunch too and looked by far the in form team.

Come on now Saliba is class and for his age and potential he could be every bit as good if not better. Though he will probably have to move on from Arsenal to achieve that.

Saliba at his age is way ahead of VVD at that age.

Generally a really poor season for the English clubs in Europe. With United and Spurs crashing out in the groups, now both Arsenal and City out in the quarters.

Europa League hasn’t been much better with us and West Ham most likely going out and Brighton getting absolutely battered by Roma.

The quality of the conference league is so low that any English club that qualifies for it by finishing 6th or 7th or whatever it is should really be expected to reach the semi finals at a minimum though. Villa's transfer spend over the last few years is probably the same as most of the conference league clubs combined!

Also, just saw that Atalanta threw away a 2-0 lead at home on Monday night to a team who are 1 point above the relegation zone... Not sure if that makes me more annoyed about last week's result or gives me faint hope for tomorrow night...
