Depending on outgoings we may also need another forward. No news on Trent's contract either.

Konate is the only centre back we've brought in since we signed VVD 7 years ago I believe?

Just another position that has been ignored for years.

We've ran out of steam to come back and rescue games. Thought we'd struggle for top 4 before the season based on last season. So barring complete capitulation its been an ok season for me if we get top 4. Big disappointment is the europa, thought we'd give it a good crack and was favourite for it. The one Klopps not won too.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He's not won the Conference League either, if that's any consolation
----------------------------------------------------------------------
not been in that though have we?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
True. But still a trophy we could possibly enter and so could theoretically have won

I'm fed up with this chaotic football we play with no control. Heavy metal football works against teams which like to press. Just be patient on the ball and use attacking combination play.

I kept saying during the season we are defensively dreadful but people thought it was the attack which let us down. We just have too many players who are passive defenders. Watch the Fulham and Everton first goals.

Slot has some similarities with Klopp pressing tactics but he has also differences in how to build up play and progressing the ball into the final third. I'm glad we will get rid off the 433 and play a 4231 from next season on.

Sepp has apparently had a very good season in Germany. He's rapid as well, but who knows if he's good enough.

Having to call out anyone with a different outlook make you very odd indeed yes. And when you get called out and proven to be wrong, call them odd.

Depressing as they might be to you i was facking rightBut i doubt that'll ever stop you in the future as you're just facking odd and live for it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It’s not about having a different outlook, it’s constantly whining, you’re like Jack Dee on the match thread. It was no great act of foresight that what you said was fairly accurate last night, it’s just broken clock syndrome.

You calling me odd for being positive is just lame ‘yeah but’ stuff.

Why do you keep blabbering on about defence? We're struggling to score goals you nutcase! We're missing hosts of chances and have been for a couple of months now, whereby we've been scraping through games up to the last month when it finally caught up with us.

We've scored four goals in the last five games. With the chances we've had it could have easily been twenty goals. We've conceded two less than City, who have to play another two and that's even after our free fall.

The issue has clearly been in attack. Defence is highlighted due to the way we play, which leaves the defence exposed. If all of a sudden we can't score, we aren't holding on to a 0-0 as despite not scoring, we're still going all out for goals, we're still creating the chances, enough to easily win games but they are currently not finishing the chances.

The defence is just as much a problem as the attack though Toor, we've gone 1-0 down in 15 PL games this season.

We've also kept just 2 clean sheets in 2024, and we didn't really create a proper chance last night until once again we were already losing 1-0.

For as much as they deserve stick over last night, it's not Nunez or Salah's fault our defenders couldn't win a header all night and messed up about 3 different chances to clear the ball for Branthwaites goal.

It isn't though, that's what I'm saying. We're wasting hosts of chances which means the odd defensive mess up when you concede doesn't matter, like the Branthwaite one you mentioned. As I said we've scored four goals in the last five games which could easily have been twenty. If that strange occurance which has slowly developed throughout the season wasn't occurring nobody would be talking about defence as it wouldn't matter as much.

posted on 25/4/24

Didn't create a proper chance? Nunez missed a one on one, Diaz missed a one on one and hit the post, Salah had a few which he should have done much better with. We could easily have scored four or five but the finishing has been awful for months now, even in games we've won.

posted on 25/4/24

We're always down in games as we struggle to finish chances whilst others take theirs.

You said we had no real chances before their goal but Nunez missed a ball across the box which he should be scoring with.

posted on 25/4/24

When you score the other team have to come out and play, you get more space and can play your normal game. When you miss your chances and the opposition take theirs then then sit in and make it difficult for to score meaning you have to take more risks, defenders have push higher up, then become your out ball high up the pitch as everybody else is being man marked and therefore defensive mistakes are more likely, misplaced passes are more likely etc.

Our main issue is very clearly the struggle to finish the host of chances we're creating, which developed throughout the season and has got worse last couple of months.

We hit two shots straight at their keeper before they scored. Two more after they scored. Made Pickford look good because he was just standing there and the ball just hit him.

Diabolical performances all over the pitch. I see some people going after Klopp but for me the players are letting him down at the worst time. It doesn't matter the coaching this week in training, they've been coached by Klopp for years.

There's no excuse for them to go out and put in these performances and fail to score against utter sheet defences like Palace and Everton. They've checked out because they know he's leaving. The whole day yesterday the media was full of Liverpool open talks with Slot.

Only Diaz is showing the Liverpool spirit right now. Nunez was sheet, Salah was extra sheet, everyone was sheet.

We are out of all competitions now. Time to get our heads properly focussed on the future.

If spurs win their games in hand they will be 8 points behind us. Feels like that should be enough but I’m not sure we will get a win for the rest of the season considering the mentality of the players.

posted on 25/4/24

VVD questioning the desire of his teammates openly in public after the game yesterday is strong messaging. Plus Klopp apologising for the performance - very interesting interviews last night suggesting all is not well.

Wish the season would just end so we can focus on the future tbh!

Yeah and those chances came after we were already 1-0 down which is my point.

I don't think we can act like we're conceding solely because of how we play when we don't actually seem to get going until we either 1-0 down or we've conceded a big chance.

Those 2 goals last night were school boy level, as was the finishing, but the defence shouldn't escape blame.

Welsh is spot on. Yes the attack has been pathetic but going down early every game due to poor defending can't be ignored. We have done well to come back in many of them but eventually that luck runs out. It's not just the defence alone, the midfield is not doing its job in protecting them.

I don't agree with this. If Klopp was staying the narrative would have been different. We would be saying that was a good unexpected title challenge in the early stages of Klopp 2.0 and with a couple of singings this summer we can be with in a much better chance.

It's because it's Klopps last season is why we all feel gutted.
