I would persevere with Nunez in a front 3 and play him on the left.
A change of system I’m not so sure.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
We have better players on the left
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Do we? I mean that position is about scoring and creating goals, which Nunez does a lot more than Diaz.
Diaz protects the ball better and…?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Plays it to Salah who skies the shot because he comes under pressure because his first touch is that of a rapist.
Are we pretending Diaz is some clinical finisher now then?
I mean I can check back to pre-Christmas and he was getting pelters for profligate and how he needs to do more. And you were one of the ones saying it.
What we are having here is a massive dollop of recency bias.
Diaz's conversion rate is actually lower than Nunez's believe it or not
Diaz is far from perfect but sadly we need to look at RF and number 9 first.
Nunez was hiding yesterday. His confidence is shot.

Diaz plays on the wing and that's his job. To me his performances the last couple or so months have been good enough. Nunez is a striker and that's his job. You can't make a direct comparison like that.
Not as easy to score when you have to beat defenders and tight angels and al that.
Nunez misses are more criminal sitters and Diaz shouldn't even be getting close to him because of the type of chances they each get.

Not at all surprising. Can’t think of many, if any, clutch moments either
Robbing hates Diaz all of a sudden because others have suggested he’s a better player than Nunez
Nunez has played on the left four times this season. He has three goals and an assist.

Opta non-pen big chances are converted 39% of the time. When Liverpool have been losing this season, they've scored just three of 23, 13%.
They've been fine when drawing (39.1%) or ahead (40.8%). But not with more pressure.
-----
Pretty much highlights what I was saying earlier.
Forwards have been crap but the extra pressure of being 1-0 down every game is clearly getting to them
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yes or what I was saying, when you miss your chances and the opposition takes theirs, then sit in, man marking the who team, leaving our centre backs as playmaker, it becomes more difficult to score and you therefore need to take more risks.
Salah was so bad yesterday. I just don't understand how a hamstring injury could force such a dramatic decline.
Big chances missed in 2023/24 so far:
Diaz - 12
Nunez - 26
In 2022/23
Diaz - 2
Nunez - 20
I’m not pretending Diaz is some kind of Fowleresque finisher, but that’s not his job.
Nunez actually has quite a good record for us when playing LW and his best form last season came there. I like Diaz but I don't think there's really much in it between them as wingers.
According to transfermarkt Nunez has played LW for us 20 times and has 9 goals and 4 assists.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Great. So what can't he score from 5 yards with just the keeper to beat?
FWIW I think if you have a false 9 like Firmino or maybe Gakpo then Nunez makes more sense on the left, if you’re playing with a more orthodox striker then Diaz makes more sense.
Maybe we should put Diaz RF and Nunez LF for the final 4 games and see if it has legs.
Diaz has the least goals and assists from our front five. His form was bang average until Feb (which I’m putting down to his injury tbh).
He’s played better than our other forwards the last 8 weeks but there is quite obviously recency bias going on here I’m afraid.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
He's gradually declined without Mane to take the pressure and attention of defenders off him.
I really have no idea what the future holds for Diaz.
I love his tenacity, how he carries the ball- feels like he's literally the only player in the squad who can get past a man and make things happen, but his numbers are no-way near good enough for a top team. His ungrateful dad constantly angling for a move to a Spanish club annoys me too.
Won't be losing any sleep it either way.

Diaz brings far more to the team than goals though, his value has never been as a goal scorer - again I’m not saying Diaz is some phenomenal goal scorer but he’s a wide player. If you’re a central striker you can’t get away with that.
Salah has been a phenomenon scoring like he has from the wing which has given you unrealistic expectations for Diaz.
