Again lets be real so many players were just shocking, esp in the final 3rd, Diaz was ok and that was it the other 3 of the 4 abysmal and thats being kind. Dont think you can blame Slot for that. However he could instruct them to put the ball in more and get in the box more.

Thoughts on Milan now who have had a poor start with a new manager. We should probably make a few changes:
----------------------------Ali
TAA-------Quansah----------VVD------Tsimikas
---------------Grav----------Endo
----------------------Jones
---Diaz--------------Nunez---------Gakpo
----------------------------------------------------------------------
prob gonna have to rotate a lot yh. is chiesa rdy?
He could not have a youth prospect play high up the pitch and become isolated against Odoi.
It’s okay to say he got that wrong, because he did.

It was a ugly low block. Klopp's solution used to be to go to 4-2-4 when up against one which worked most times while Slot went for like for like subs with his first few changes and we got worse.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I agree with this. Klopp's natural tendencies (and perhaps trust in the team) meant he was willing to risk a loss in order to get a win.
Perhaps Slot will get to that place, or at least closer, but it'll take time for him to figure out the response.
idk why we arent playing for corners and shots from outside the box when we force them to def a cross. we should be a threat at set pieces with vvd. he put one just wide didnt he? we just didnt ask enough questions of their def, reluctant to get numbers in and around the box and put the ball in. used to happen under Klopp a lot too.
when we won the league or pushed for it we were really good at getting a goal and seeing the game out. often that goal would be from a corner. we were the best in the league at set pieces. Arsenal basically do that now.
Milan games gonna be interesting, how Slot does away in europe, how he responds on the back of disappointment. how much he rotate, can he get the squad players up for it it milan?

It’ll be a tough game going by Saturdays ‘performance’.
I like Kash’s team for it given the fixture list. Real shame we have a Prem team in the cup.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I would play the kids in that cup game against West Ham to be honest, we really haven't got the squad depth to cope with that competition this season and I think it might benefit our season us if we go out earlier.
It's sad obviously as you always want to win everything. We won it last year but that was when we could play the second string in easy Europa group games. Different ball game with 8 champions league fixtures before Christmas.
Not sure we’ve any kids left have we?
Nyoni, Bradley and Morton. That’s it.
The rest have been sold or loaned.
Yep after that we are properly talking about the under 18s.
We basically have two 11’s so we should have a good enough second team for West Ham. Such a shame Elliot t is now injured as he would have been useful for this run of games. Midfield is a worry if Mac is missing or not on form. Said that before the window shut.

Not much in the U18s from the little I’ve seen.
Onanuga can play but there’s no one in the of Nyoni’s ability at that age. Nowhere near in fact.
Yeah. Just looked at the line up from our recent u21s game against Sunderland. Jay Spearing is the only one I've heard of.

Flip side is the club let Slot down there as Saturday showed we absolutely need another body in midfield, which is where he had to move Trent in order to protect AMA, who’d been playing in South America a few days earlier with an adductor issue.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Who said it was to protect AMA? Sounds a bit convoluted to me. I thought he did it because we needed a goal, not to protect anyone.
If we were cruising he'd have done a straight sub TAA for Bradley IMO, or use Endo and/or Jones.

Because Bradley was subbed on for AMA on the hour and Trent was moved into midfield. This after AMA had a well documented adductor issue.

We had other players that could replace AMA. IMO he moved TAA there because we needed to maintain dynamism in midfield and Endo or Jones were not his first choice for that purpose.
We had other midfielders that could have come on if he aim was to protect AMA. With all due respect your theory makes no sense whatsoever.
Just so I’m clear, you’re saying that when we needed a goal he took AMA off for another reason, and not to protect him after returning from international duty with a muscle problem?
He could have played Endo and given Grav AMA's role but he is not going to play Endo because he more or less told him that he is not good enough so now Slot is stuck with a very small pool of midfielders.
