I think Chiesa could be in the running to be a Salah replacement, will be very interesting to see how he's used this year.

If he is Salah’s replacement I’ll be pretty disappointed and I say that as a fan of Chiesa.

Any salah replacement will be a disappointment, who can you think of that wouldn't be?

Interesting. Whenever I watched him for Juve he was on the left but for Italy he played on the right cos Insigne played on the left.

We don’t need a direct replacement for Salah, it isn’t possible anyway he’s the best RW in world football.

We need a player who can get goals and assists but also get the best out of our other attackers. If Chiesa got 10 goals a season but we get 25 from Nunez then that’s a good enough Salah replacement.

tbf mbappe haaland and bellingham were all obtainable long before they ended up at city and real.

we should be signing the next of that type of player before they can sign for the big boys.

Who has done this and where? Tried to spin failed attempts as a positive?

In order I’d go for these as a Salah replacement. They’re not all out and out RWF but can certainly play there

Semenyo (Surprised he’s not getting more noise, but he can play. I rate him).

Not sure that's true. Haaland and Bellingham both turned down Utd because they thought Dortmund would be better for their development. Given where they've ended up, can't fault their path either.

Mbappe went for something like 100m euros as an 18 year old after his outstanding breakthrough season. So goodness knows when we could have got him.

I'm not arguing with the logic of getting the top talents early, it's absolutely sound. But also increasingly difficult as players become more clued-up about which clubs are right for their development and with the likes of RM willing to go big on players like Vinicius, Rodrygo and Guler really early.

An interesting future market might be the wonder-kids who take a bit more time to develop or get pushed out by the next big thing. Arsenal have done well with Odegaard and I know we were linked with Guler in the summer.

I'd be chuffed with Mbuemo, plus he's in the Prem already so it's probably more likely than we think
