What is morally right about him actually going there isn't the issue. He had a missus, so shouldn't have gone there, that isn't really in dispute.
We aren't living in Cromwell's Puritan England though, and there must be a very high percentage of men (and women) who have cheated on their other half.
We can't judge him for lack of morals, yet absolve the woman o for going back with a man shed just met after a night on the booze and chang. That's not blaming her for what happened, as nobody really knows, just an observation on the events leading up to it.

Did she drink anything between meeting McDonald and Evans turning up?

The key is consent and whether she was in a fit state to give consent to Evans. She was literally falling down drunk earlier and was swaying at the hotel.Evans took a taxi to the hotel after getting a text from McDonald saying he had 'got a bird'.His brother and a friend were also in the taxi and they went to an outside window to film him.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Evidence was provided from an expert that states, following her being tested for alcohol the next day, the amount of alcohol she would have consumed (three times over the driving limit) would not have caused memory loss and, even if it had does not mean she was not in a fit state to consent.
The jury had to decide whether she was so drunk that she had lost her inhibitions or whether she was not conscious of events. That decision is based solely on the opinions of the jurors as none of them were present in the hotel room and girl claims to have no memory. That is why the case is not clear cut.

A hotel receptionist described the woman as 'extremely drunk' and said she was stumbling and slurring and occasionally grabbing hold of Mr McDonald to steady herself.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
This was corroborated by the expert. I'm paraphrasing but he said [she would have had a slurring of words and an unsteadiness of gait, but not enough to cause memory loss] which is basically exactly what you described (minus the memory!)
She looks ok on the footage at the hotel, walking in heels unaided. Unless she had more to drink subsequently you can see why there is doubt as to whether she gave consent, especially as there was no use of force.
What she says she drank would put her 2.5 times over the drink drive limit, which is pretty moderate to anyone who drinks regularly.
Its very easy to see why there is doubt here.

The same hotel receptionist thought there was nothing untoward when they went and checked on the room later on whilst Ched Evans was in there.
Evidence from an expert suggests she would not have had enough alcohol in her system to cause memory loss and that she may still have been able to consent.
It is all opinion on whether she could or not. It is not fact.

I think some people on this thread are forgetting that Ched Evans is a convicted rapist, the case may sound a bit dodgy, but in front of a properly informed court he was found guilty. A jury in which have had all the evidence in front of them and they concluded that he was guilty.
Now as a Spurs fan, I hated it when Bale dived and we were labelled a club of 'cheats' and 'divers'. For certain I wouldn't want a rapist to play for my club, I could never support that. I think Oldham and Sheff Utd fans have every right to have an issue as well.

"I'm looking at the case, not sticking up for him personally"
This is the confusion that most of the "morally superior" seem to be making.
