Why have we stopped playing the high pressing game this season?
......................
Bcause you have lost one of your front three, one is mostly injured and Sterling is away with the fairies.

I was stating that is surely it is poor planning by someone who wants to implement a style of football when not having the personnel to carry this out

Nolza you were getting mocked because what you said made no sense, and you couldn't even work out why it made no sense.
That mockery is still there.
Nolza
It certainly does look like poor planning.
The Balotelli signing was pure ego on behalf of BR. There has been nothing in his career to suggest he would be able to put in a shift like Suarez, let alon be half the player.

I don't think it was pure ego at all. In fact I find the notion absurd.
Look, let's look at the positives.
I know he can create entertaining teams. I know he can create formations that get the best out of players. I know that given a world class player he can challenge for leagues and I know without one he can challenge for cups. I know he can bring through youth and I know he wants to do well and is ambitious.
Look, let's look at the positives

................
Why on earth do you find it absurd?
We had three successive England managers trying to fit Lampard and Gerrard into the same midfield, despite the fact that it was obvious it doesn't work.
Managers let ego get in the way very often. Some times it works out, more often it doesn't.
Anyone doubt Balo has quality? Anyone see any quality strikers about? Bali had just had a decent WC performance wise, a decent strike rate, decent price and was available.
To suggest it was solely down to ego, when an entire board sanctions a transfer for millions, is silly.
Anyone doubt Balo has quality?
..............
He is very hit and miss, always has been. No good having quality if it only shows up once a month.
I think Rodgers completely messed up with Balo
Not for signing him, but playing him as a lone striker for so long when it was blatantly obvious he's not a lone striker.
BR can be very pigheaded like that. Especially with his beloved, but horrible in reality 4-3-3.
I think Balo would have been a very good signing had he played in a 2 with Studge this season.
We saw it the first match when we thumped Spurs. Then never again.
Rodgers can be full of himself, but I don't really beleive Balo was an ego signing in any way.
he was fairly highly rated still, available for a decent fee, and most importantly willing to sign for us

Balo was a terrible signing.
I think there was a degree of ego involved.
'I can get him to change' but even allowing for that, it was a terrible signing because nothing about his game suggested he would pressure defenders the way we need our front men to do.
I don't take the 'it was late in the window' as an argument to be honest.
Why was it that late in the window? We knew Suarez would leave sooner or later, why did we not have a better plan and list of potential replacements scouted?
Sanchez was a good target, but I don't see how you go from Sanchez (a workaholic who is obviously similar in style to Suarez) to Balotelli who shares more in common with Berbatov.
There are dozens of players in between those extremes.

I can't understand why we didn't push four mil more on Bony but whatever.
Remy was rumoured to like his bizzle.
