We have to basically beat Italy this season to keep our spots. Fail to do so and we will lose our 4 spots.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Not necessarily, Germany could quite easily crumble. If Dortmund fail to take Europa seriously I could see both nations overtaking them with the points they're on.
Hafi why are Utd so Boring
Nigel Winterburn probably if Man Utd were called Newcastle Utd would have given A* for our win against Liverpool 3-0 at OT ot Southampton 1-2 Man Utd or Arsenal 1-2 Man Utd and say defensively we were really organised and attacked well. Thats basically how he judges things
Dortmund, Shalke and Bayern could get them a lot of points, though.
It's a problem. But you'll still hear the old "let's field a weakened team for the EL" argument. If the English teams take it seriously then they can make it to the later rounds and at that point it's anyone's game in that format. If the English teams don't take it serious they will end up regretting it.
West Ham's poor showing doesn't help. To be fair that has really dropped the league in it, they should be relegated for not making the group stages. I expect Southampton to make it into the groups.
Fingers crossed Rodgers and Poch can string a few wins together....after all they have spent they should be winning the thing
Southampton looked poor in the first leg. Need them to qualify for the group stage, even though they could struggle.
Italy do still have a lot of work to do to get above England, but last year's huge points tally was as much to do with Roma and Napoli dropping into the Europa as it was Juve getting to the champions league final.
That and the dreadful showing in the CL for England.
But basically, everyone's fate rests in Liverpool and Southampton's hands.
Can;t count of Suprs obviously.

Man Utd 2010-11 run to CL final had a lot of wins and a lot of uefa cofficient points that go away.
Thats why currently we are only 3.804 points ahead.

FFS Hafi not everything is about utd
2010/11 dropped out for this years numbers. It has literally got nothing to do with the present coefficients.
Not really as it's a combined effort.
West Ham going out makes things more difficult, as would Southampton going out also.
Thats why I said it goes away this season but it counted for last season top 4 spots.
11/12 Chelsea win could be last time 4th spot is used for this season before being vanished for next season becoming top 3.

Be great if it is reduced to three,it will mean one of the big 4 will not get the riches of the Champions league. It will also mean that they would treat the Europa league with greater respect and go all out to win it.
Only the big 4 have the squad size and quality to go all out to win it.Although you could rightly say with Liverpool's spend under Rodgers then they should be serious contenders for the Europa league
Problem we've got is that our combined total is divided by eight rather than Italy's six and Germany's seven.
If Southampton go out as well we'll have six teams in Europe, Italy five and Germany seven.
I doubt it would. It would just make them even more focussed on finishing in the top three.

Liverpool will obviously be appreciative of all the support from everton fans to ensure it is easier for the blue side to qualify for the Europa.

Going further in the Europa will mean that they could qualify by right by winning it,but also they could score enough coefficient points to also get England clubs the 4th spot back again.
If that were the case we wouldn't be in this position.
The top four would still prioritise the league over the Europa, that's guaranteed.

If it went down to top3 next season then surely one of City/United/Chelsea or Arsenal would be in the Europa.
If that happened then if the went all out to win the Europa they would pick up more coefficient points.Surely for the big 4 it would be more beneficial to get that 4th spot back than for the 4 clubs to squabble over 3 places
But it wouldn't affect their immediate future and as it's a combined effort, and dependant upon what other leagues do, it doesn't guarantee a return to four CL spots for the prem.
They will go all out for top three as it means a return to the CL, providing they win their play off. Going all out for the Europa, a cup competition, and hoping that it'll increase their coefficient in the hope it will give us four cl slots in another season or two just doesn't make any sense for the clubs.
If it happens I guarantee whoever it is will spend big in the summer and focus on getting back in the CL via the league.

I don't think this person exted Juventus to reach CL final and Italy to do well in both competitions.

Winning the Europa league would get that team Champions league football the following season.Any of the top 4 clubs should and would be the strongest team in the europa
expected* Anyway I think all english clubs will do well this season in CL so we should be safe.
