It's not a quiz, you scrotal bag.
The best albums in this period were made by bands already great in the 1990s (and earlier):
R.E.M. - Reveal
Radiohead - Kid A, Amnesiac and Hail to the Thief
Manic Street Preachers - Know Your Enemy (far, far from their best, but some good songs)
I also liked:
Doves - Lost Souls
Colplay - Parachutes and A Rush of Blood to the Head (the latter is sadly overlooked because of their later mediocrity)
Telepopmusik - Genetic World
A few bands threatened to be era-defining in this period, but for me no one really made it. Franz Ferdinand, Arctic Monkeys, Keane, The Strokes, Snow Patrol, Kaiser Chiefs, Editors, White Stripes... Most of these bands had one or two great songs but nobody grasped the nettle as, say, Oasis and Blur did in the 1990s. Bands like Coldplay, Stereophonics and the Red Hot Chili Peppers dominated by being far more commercial (and uninspiring) than they had been earlier in their careers.
A vastly inferior decade to its predecessor, with only a few exceptions. And I do mean "vastly".
And as for this decade...

The Strokes have been absolutely massive. How exactly did they not 'make it'?
Also youre missing out on some huge bands in that list. Maybe not radio friendly but huge non-the-less.
