find it hard to believe that Woodward has any/much input into selecting our managers.

LOL

I keep telling people, LvG is doing a poor job, my issue is that so was Jose, so why replace him with someone who did a poorer job?

We should try to get someone better

He doesn't deserve another penny to spend. He's spent millions and we are 5 pts adrift of 4th now.

He should be sacked. There needs to be a standard at this club and he's not up to it.

There's an argument that says even if we are underperforming on the field, he has bought pretty well and should be trusted to finish shaping the rejuvenated squad he'll hand over.

Particularly if his mandate was to prepare a side for Giggs.

Well said SE85. It baffles me how people can't see this.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He has failed in every competition (so far) this season.

CL - failed to get out of an easy group (2nd easiest of the 8 groups imo)

Carling Cup - knocked out by a lower league team for the 2nd season in a row, this time at home

PL - sitting in 6th, 5 points off 4th, sandwiched between Crystal Palace and West Ham

Worst football served up at OT for decades, and in the worst run of form for 50 years.

Remind me why people want him to stay?

Because Jose is one of the two best managers in the world.

MUDD, Van Gaal in his second stint with Barca nearly had them in the relegation places. Mourinho over 15 years of management has been so bloody successful and you're only picking on his problems with Chelsea?

posted on 30/12/15

LVG has won 3 trophies of relveence in the last 15 years, him adn jose are not comparible.

LVG is a midtable teams manager, he should not be ours. jose should.

Arab, it is the logic being used to bash LvG. Jose over his last few jobs has fallen out with players and been sacked. That indicates a pattern.

LvG failed in his second season in Barca but redeemed himself.

My argument is simple, the board would have looked at Jose's disastrous season at Chelsea and will be quite rightly asking themselves if he is a solution or an additional problem

He failed at bayern as well.

posted on 30/12/15

There could be some sort of pre arrangement where by Mourinho has agreed to take over in the summer. I'm sure Mourinho respects the LVG and the position he's in and just simply said I wont discuss the job until the summer.

Nearly won the treble and fell out with the board the season after.

Team were not in a relegation scrap like Chelsea though

I think the club is quite rightly worried that a manager who took his team of champions close to relegation

close to relegation? ffs were not even half way through the season. have a day off

chelsea being where they are now is like Leicster, not gonna make a difference at seasons end, theyve never been in danger just like LC will never win this seasons title.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
aaah, typical stretty logic

so he'll defend chelsea by saying we are only half way through the season and they'll be ok ( despite no signs of improvement) yet is slating LVG, who doesnt get the " we are only half way through the season" logic

makes sense

I always felt he wanted the United job first time not that I have any proof.

If United don't want him then fair enough, they have chosen 2 managers that I personally feel are inferior, one of which has fallen out with his clubs more so than Jose. If Pep is off the City then I wonder who the club have in mind, if it is Giggs then this club really do worry me.

people need to look at a slightly bigger picture here too (and im not on about the LVG bigger picture thats been banged on about over the last couple of months).

Leicester are joint top, Palace are sitting just outside the top 4 with west ham.

city have lost 3 out of their last 7

Arsenal got spanked 4-0 by southampton

Chelsea are just outside the relegation zone.

liverpool are midtable despite the messiah Klopp being there.

yes the football has been boring, but lets not kid ourselves here, this season has been a strange one to say the least.

we arent the only team dropping points and not winning games we'd normally expect to win.

this isnt 10 years ago where it was always a 2 horse race, the gap between the bottom clubs and top clubs has decreased dramtically and as seen, any club is capable of beating any club this season.

I can't see United ever going for Jose. I think the board probably take the view - imo correctly - that he is more trouble than he is worth. The problem with big clubs is that they are always looking for nailed on success. So are very reluctant to take a chance.

Dunk, you can't excuse our season by looking at other sides. We have been dire. You talk about Liverpool. If they win tonight theyre level with us and are showing more promise than us.

Fact is we're not as good as at least 4 sides in the league.

Top 4 will be very very hard to get.

Mudd's weird logic regarding Jose is a huge wum attempt. I'm glad so many people on this thread are through it.

posted on 30/12/15

not making excuses at all, im just pointing out the facts.

people are making out that we are the only team have trouble this season when we are not.

like i said, the football at times has been dire this season, but maybe... just maybe people should be looking at teams like Leicester and palace and actually giving them a little bit of credit.

Jose has just had a major melt down certainly career wise and quite possibly personaly when you consider his bazare behaviour this season. Yet no alarm bells have been activated with the utd fans clamouring for his appointment.

bar their boxing day result Liverpool have been awful for the last month... chinned by Newcastle and Watford (who we were criticised for only just beating).

it kinda proves Duncs point... the league is all over the place... although doesn't excuse just how bad we've been granted

as United supporters we have no choice atm to rally together behind LVG and his players ( who ARE playing for him despite the rumours) and hope that the losing run comes to an end soon.

1. LVG isnt going to get sacked by MUFC soon. He could burn the stadium down and goose Woodward's wife... but they wont sack him right now.

2. In fact LVG has cleverly turnrd it around and has threatened to resign if the club and media dont back of with the speculation.A threat Woodward and the board are taking very seriously.

3. Jose has a Pope in Hells chance of being appointed by MUFC. Ever. Suck it up Jose fan boys. That thats the way it is.

4. Results and points gained dont seem to matter anymore. Ed has to support his man or its curtains for him as well. Its a storm the club is prepared and braced to weather until and when things start to improve.

5. In the summer LVG will probably review his position with only a year to go and he (and only he) will decide if he continues as manager or hands over to Ryan.

Its going to be uncomfortable as a spectator as we are entering a run of a few games I personally dont think we will get much joy out of...But Uniteds fans are magnificent at OT and away, A credit to the club, and are steadfastly standing behind the manager collectively. I think the threat of Jose has actually worked in favour of LVG.

RBW pretty much my thoughts summed up. Still hope we go in for Pep in the summer too.

Cl qualification is where it's at. Moyes was sacked when that became unattainable and the same will happen with van gaal.
