I get why people wouldn't want Mourinho due to his character, but if you did get him, that is a frightening prospect. I actually think your squad is in the perfect situation for him as he always does a few changes that improve a squad, he did it with real, inter and Chelsea both times.

It is a high pressure management that he employs, which is why he only really lasts three years. The idea he doesn't love good squads behind is a myth though.

Personally, I would stick with Van Gaal for a while yet if you aren't going to go after Mourinho. I have nothing to back this up but personal opinion, but I don't think giggs would be a success for you.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
I think he will be a complete failure. This idea that Barcelona done it and it worked out therefore we should as well is nonsense. If Giggs wants this job he should go out and prove himself. As said when Phil Neville was employed, we are not running an internship here.

What I would like now though is, if LVG is staying, is a stamement from the board backing him to stop all this speculation.
***

the LVG circus continued to Swansea despite the run of results he has achieved recently.

What more of a louder recommendation and backing of LVGs regiem do you need from MUFC
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Maybe I want this just to appease me as a supporter more than anything else. I know the dreaded 'vote of confidence' can be a curse but at least something from the club could help with the unity.

The players have been coming out with this of course but then they have been as culpable as LVG IMO.

No lad, that would be you.

It is a bit ironic that some of the posters that don't want Mourinho but seem happy to keep the man who instigated that particular style of management in the first place...

Getting Pep for 3 years with Giggs then taking over would be perfect.

anything that leads to giggs taking over is not perfect.

I think what people fail to realise is football now is a business and the board have a duty to the shareholders first. Keep the club profitable = Job done
Poor runs of results = Less overpriced merchandise sold in Malaysia etc

Pretty much agree with that. Only concern is that I've seen little in the past 18 months that gives me much confidence LVG can sort things out and improve us. Would love it if he could.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
We'd look so much better with a goalscorer and a wide player who can take people on and cross. Had Rooney and Depay even been slightly above average this season we'd be doing much better I'm sure.

Therefore a couple of new signings in those positions or an upturn in those two players' form may reap rewards.

One thing is clear though we need to keep Herrera and Morgan in the team as often as we can. That is key I think to this season.

I am a little worried/intrigued as to who we go for this January. We'll probably panic and end up buying Mane for £100m!

There are no players on the market who would transform us the way we need.

Our top scorer this season in the league has 4 goals. To get top 4 its likely our new striker will have to come in and score at least 10-15 goals.

Mane is good but won't do that.

Our rivals have a Giroud, a Kane, an Aguero and a Vardy. We don't have that.

We need a top striker in Jan. Who will come in?

Mane would be a shrewd purchase I feel. I'd also be on the lookout for potential loan signings who have the Euros coming up and are not playing regularly. Who knows who they would be though.

As a leftfield striker choice I would look at Mario Gomez who is on loan at Besiktas but not sure whether we could get him from there.

It is difficult to get players in January who hit the ground running straight away but I would also not be averse to bringing back Wilson and Janujaz if possible just to add something different.

If we are going to fail this season I'd rather do it whilst seeing whether the youngsters can hack it.

Scholes

For me it's less about his football view, more that he's a patronising pillock. No problem with someone who has a different opinion football wise of they can engage in sensible debate.

I dont think mudds an idiot, i dotn agree with his LVG stance whatsoeevr but he's a decent enough chap.

Interesting that some see Woodward as having alot of power over the managerial decision... I'd have thought he was far more expendable.

What a hypocrite. I read some of the things you write now and think of the nonsense you wrote during moyes tenure and have to laugh. Someone like stretty i can accept, he has been consistent in that he did not want moyes or lvg. That I can accept, nothing wrong with differing opinions.

I keep telling people, LvG is doing a poor job, my issue is that so was Jose, so why replace him with someone who did a poorer job?

Because Jose is one of the two best managers in the world.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
who's the other one...?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

pep.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
oh right....the guy who has been handed to two best club sides of the last ten years...

just checking...

i'd actually like to see what he can do with a side minus a galactico or six....he might just be a genius

I don't understand the comment about Pep having it all ready made for him. There is a reason he gets the top jobs because he is good at them.

I'm pretty sure I could run a small corner shop but I would be lost being the MD of Tesco.

Horses for courses as they say and managing egos is as much a part of managing the top clubs as anything else IMO

What is my LvG stance? I support the manager and hope he turns it around. If he can't, his position becomes untenable and has to be sacked. This is my position. Why it offends folk on here is a mystery to me.

My position regarding Jose is this? LvG is doing a poor job, get rid and hire a man who was sacked for an even worse job? What is offensive here?

As for the alleged patronising tone I have with some posters, I take people at face value on here. If you post something stupid, I will call you up on it. I expect the same.

Again what is offensive here?

Rob and Cleverson do not like me because I point out their hypocrisy and 1982 is still upset with me for backing Woodward when he was falsely accusing him for stuff that happened during Moyes tenure.

My crime there again was asking him to provide me with evidence of Woodward not signing players for Moyes

Again, what is offensive about that on patronising?

You guys take this place too seriously

Pep did inherit a good side, but he very much shaped it too.

He made the call to ditch Ronaldinho and Deco, make Messi the key man and keep Xavi and Iniesta together, fast tracking Busquets to join them.
