Also due to his decline recently I think everyone is forgetting how good Rooney was. Easily better than the likes of Torres.

What? as a striker? EASILY? stop smoking, for 4 or 5 years torres was unreal as a striker

Raul

Rooney was never close to the levels of most players mentioned in this article. Possibly the most overrated Englishman of his generation and that is some achievement.

Yeah would never go that far, but he was never easily better than torres, if better at all
In terms of pure goals, what about Mario Jardel? Absolute goal machine, for a long time as well:
Goals in brackets
1991-1996 Vasco da Gama 50 (26)
1995-1996 Grêmio (loan) 73 (67)
1996-2000 Porto 125 (130)
2000-2001 Galatasaray 24 (22)
2001-2003 Sporting Lisbon 49 (53)
Total apps: 321 Total Goals: 298
Maybe not at the most elite level but that's an amazing goal record.
Yeah would never go that far, but he was never easily better than torres, if better at all
=================
torres had 1 exceptional year in his entire career.
the rest he has comfortably been better than torres. comfrotably.
not even worth debating really.

sorry when was torres apart from 07/08 ever better than rooney?
May as well throw Kane into the mix. Two seasons of 20+ goals already in the PL. Same as Rooney and Drogba, with like 10 more years to play.

depends when your comparing him too, rooney for a long period had alternate seasons(30 goals one year,10 the next) torres was devestating for atletico when they were not as good as they are now.
He scored 65 goals in 100 or so appearances for liverpool, thats more than just one good season.

No he wasnt. He was ok, some seasons mediocre. Youre talking to someone who knows his record here.
his second season for liverpool he scored 17 and third 22. thats not earth shattering or ground breaking.
hes never scored as many as rooney has in his best season, something rooney has achieved twice and rooney has never scored 10 goals in a season i dont know where you got that from.
torres in his time at liverpool scored 81 in 142, rooney scored 88 in 140 despite spending a huge chunk of that on the left wing to accomodate ronaldo.
