Thoughts on Bergkamp out scoring top ten since 1990 RvN at international level,
============================

see above post.

as for int, he scored 2 more goals in 9 more games.

posted on 27/5/16

Surely a top 10 since 90 would far out score an awful striker at international level in 9 fewer games?
The fact Bergkamp played deeper for a fair bit makes it even worse for RvN.

And thoughts on Bergkamp out scoring Cole over the seasons highlighted, when both played 119 PL games?

At club level there is no comparisson between ruud and bergkamp.

there is no compairsson to be had between cole and bergklamp, cole was a much better striker, let alone ruud.

ruud scored nearly double what bergkamp did in 5 years compared with bergkamps decade.

some people do play better at int level though, so in many respects bergkamps like that, hes like david healy

==================================

between 95 and 2000

bergkamp scored 79 goals overall, cole scored 91.

as i said, no comparisson.

sorry if you dont count other competitions, but i couldnt care less for your nonsense way of trying to make bergkamps record look good, its crap.

You are including seasons when Bergkamp didn't play as a striker.
In a comparable 4 season period, when both played 119 PL games, Bergkamp outscored Andy Cole.

posted on 27/5/16

Outscored Andy Cole in Andy Coles own backyard as well.
And outscore RvN at international level.

Oh, and the Dutch league was far stronger in the time period we are discussing. Far, far stronger

posted on 27/5/16

Times Andy Cole scored 20+ goals in a season - 4
Times DB10 scored 20+ goals in a season - 5

(all competitions)

Times Andy Cole scored at international level - ONE

why are you only counting pl?

no it wasnt

How could this amazing striker not even reach 100 league goals in a decade

go figure.

Yes it was - You are showing your age now

Because he dropped deeper, as he was facking excellent there as well

Dutch league

good god youre reaching, stop youre embarassing yourself, bergkamp was a chit striker at a good club level.

The only one embarrassing themselves is the one who clearly wasn't even born in 1990, let alone aware of the quality of leagues at the time

posted on 27/5/16

bergkamp 741 games 272 goals.

cole 641, 271

not even a comparible strike rate snd cole played at a better standard of league for longer.

ruud 589 - 347

how dare you compare bergkamp to him

Oh so apart from ajax what dutch teams were good back then do tell.

Because he dropped deeper, as he was facking excellent there as well
=================

he was still a striker and he was still fecking chit there in terms of his goal returns. the odd nice goal and fancy flick doesnt change that.

I know debates tend to go slightly/wildly off tangent on here, but wasn't the debate about who's the best rather than who's scored the most?

If it was all about goals then there wouldn't be a debate, someone would just look up the stats and post them. Thread over!

Nah youve just lost the argument fella, you wont find many people agreeing the dutch league was a good league even back then.

you wont find many putting bergkamp in the top strikers since 1990 when he just about scraped a 1 in four record at arsenal and couldnt even score a 100 league goals despite p[laying in one of the best teams in the league for a decade.

shambles.

The best strikers in the last 26 years have been cristiano ronaldo and lionel messi and they have scored the most.

Not as a striker, though. The article is asking for players at their best as strikers

One international goal, and you put Andy Cole in
Only four 20+ seasons and you put Andy Cole in

One international goal

271 in 624, including many seasons in lower league football, is not impressive for a player who played solely as a 6 yard box poacher.

272 in 741, all seasons at the top level - many seasons in a deep, creative role, is far more impressive.

Andy Cole never scored more than 5 in a single European campaign, ffs

Oh, did I mention ONE international goal
