Sure proves my point that the pitch is not a rank turner as some experts predicted here

It may not be a rank turner but that shooter Hameed got was one of many.

Kashy,

So what kind of pitches you prefer for India to produce?

Like UAE, Lanka or Bangladesh?

Pitch has been excellent throughout the 4 days. Batsmen if they apply themselves have runs to score as Kohli and Stokes in the first innings showed. Also some variable bounce and turn in it for the spinners as well as the England pacers who have outperformed ours comfortably in particular Broad with his reverse.

Variable bounce is a common thing for all pitches. Especially a day 4 pitch.

India should produce what ever surface they like

The pitch has been ok. The pace and bounce has suited India more than it has England's players. It's not like the Bangladeshi wickets but it has turned from day one.

England will lose this not because it's a rank turner but because they played some poor shots to Ashwin in the first innings.

Also the game was more or less over at the toss, which is the shame about Indian pitches generally.

Kashy wants same pitch like Pak got in New-Zealand. He is upset with the result and we all can understand. On top of that, he has to cook for his wife as she is having a big party

P.S Me and Kashy enjoy little banter. It's not meant for folks who are thin skinned..

The game was lost for England in that session where Root gave away two wickets - his own and Hameeds. Not to mention the same session where Duckett and Ali also lost their wickets. There was nothing demonic in the pitch then. Kohlis batting has also been a difference so far - first innings and his vital 80 odd today.

I think India will win but reckon England will take it to the wire. England have shown some good fight in this test. Spinners have improved and B & A seamers are always class.

They should look to replace Ansari with Woakes.

I think the toss is just an excuse. In all conditions people win the toss and bat first, unless there is a rare occasion where the pitches are like what we saw in Pak NZ series, or there is cloud cover. The aus series India won 4-0, the toss was all won by aus and they batted first. Similarly last India eng series, eng won both the Mumbai and Kolkata test after batting 2nd. I think it's all about mindset. Just imagine if England had gotten very close to indias first innings score, they would have been close to winning this match.

Overall England bowlers have been better than indias, and whatever the outcome in this test, Mohali will be an interesting test. It will suit English seamers more than india's bowlers.

Bangladesh collapse all over.

@Kash

You're right

Am not going to whinge about England. But am use to it..
the selectors should all go..Those who pick the likes of Ansari (who is not an international player) and who keep picking Finn over Ball. Who stuck with Ballance over Hameed.
Moeen Ali will always fail to often to be a top batsman.. etc.

And there we have it a predicted loss..

@Englandwhoelse.. Don't give up on your team bro! They fought hard but agree with team selections.

I'm glad we won and made right changes.. Got rid of oldy Gamby n shorty Mishra. This is the difference you will see between Dhoni & Kohli.

Sheriff,

Next match is in Mohali. If u get the right selections then anything is possible. It may favor ur bowlers more at Mohali's pitch!

I was right about Mishy that he is not test match material. Look at the difference the young lad Jayant Yadav made.. Gotta be brave and give chances to newcomers and kick out bloody dead weight!

Well played India. The toss played a huge part.
Time to drop Ducket and bring in Butler

Would be nice if Cook was a little gracious in defeat. Why cant he congratulate the winning team?
One thing i dislike about him being captain.

Kohli praising Jayant and seamers too. For him they are the biggest positives in this match..

England lost due to 1st innings not toss. Good luck next time and may the best team win the series!!

Cheers..

If we batted first we wouldnt have lost. Not like that anyway.
Losing by over 246 runs is massive.

Hopefully the toss in Mohali wont be that crucial
