Jennings has been all sorts of heights on Wikipedia, 7 foot 2 etc. Now his height has been taken out of the article (boo!).

A lot of spin on day 1 on this track. Despite 5 down England might have a decent total. Will need 350 plus though.

Solid day for England I think. 350+ should be decent.

I think this pitch should suit Moeen given the pace he bowls at.

Maybe England should have gone with the third spinner after all! We'll see. Maybe Root can bowl a bit if needed.

England are definately on the drivers sit here. Apart from kohli and pujara, our top order have been on poor form.

Good day for England\SA today. This pitch doesn't look easy to bat on. Add another 100 runs to that total and that would put England\SA firmly in control

Let's hope England can try and get around 400.

Cricket really is about fine margins. If the fielder catches that Jennings is out for a duck and looks like a pony. As it is he took advantage and now he's the star of the show. Willis and co could easily have been laying into him for getting out for a duck instead of praiseing hi.

England had a very good day on a wicket that is quickly showing signs of deterioration. Ashwin bowled some absolute beauties today. Impressive showing from the debutant Jennings although it could have been so different for India had Nair clung on to thay difficult chance at Gully. India will have to grind tomorrow and then bat exceptionally well.

Pretty surprised with the wicket, was expecting this turn after day 2

Sorry that ridiculous of Stokes there. you could see he hit the ground with his bat..The 3rd umpire new this.. the on field umpire didn't give it out..regarding all this information.you don't give a player out its simple.

Good score. Could England do with another spinner? We'll see.

India started competently...no reason they can't shoot 400 I guess....

Pitch is spinning but nothing like the wickets in Bangladesh. At the moment its managable.

With 400 on the board why does Cook always have fielders on the boundary?? Least attack a little to start with.

posted on 9/12/16

Kohli is even worse than Cook for it. Not many brace captains these days.

India have fought back well and will be pleased with the position they're in after letting us get to 400 despite Stokes going early this morning.

dont know why stokes was moaning looked like he slightly nicked the ball when give out on review. The spike on snicko also looked like an edge spike not as it was a tiny little spike.

Slightly nicked the ball.... tiny little spike?

Must admit I can see the other side.. Bat hit the ground. Not the edge. Terrible third umpiring.... he didn't even seem to consider the fact it could be the bat hitting the ground. Surprised England didn't make much of an issue out of that.

You have to question englands reluctance to go with 6 bowlers of which 4 are seamers on this pitch. They have clearly not read the pitch well in any of the matches so far.

Ashwin yet again showed his class and proves once more of why he is ahead of his peers. Pujara and vijay will need to carry on to get India in a safe position and the aim should be to get the first innings score as close as England's score. Any lead given will come to bite back
