That is bonkers....they are talking about opening up a new oil drilling base off the Scottish coast too, while telling developing nations to reign it in?

The Cambo oil field is a political hot potato at the moment. The UK government are wanting to get it open asap with the Scottish Secretary on the tv this weekend saying it would be 'foolish' to think we wouldn't open it up.

Sturgeon hasn't been quite as enthusiastic about opening it up but I suspect if a gun was put to her head she'd go for it too.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Possibly influenced by the Greens in "coalition", Nicola may have to play along, or at least be seen to oppose Cambo?....before saying, aye.

Short term financial gain v planet pain, Ivan.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Think that's pretty much it mate.

For what it's worth, I think both Sturgeon and Johnson genuinely believe that change is needed and accept that there's urgency. But when push comes to shove, neither the two of them, and particularly Johnson, will make the tough decisions that are necessary because ultimately they're politicians and they'll see it as economic - and therefore electoral - suicide.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
This.

To hear Boris speak on climate change, One would assume he was leader of Insulate Britain, Greenpeace and Extinction Rebellion, but like his promises on NI, brexit and Father's day visits, the jury is oot.

12 years ago there was an agreement that rich countries would contribute $100 billion per year to help poorer nations fight climate change.
What happened to that?

For Kloppy re: military budget. So call it $2tn yeah I think that would help.

Insert - what you reckon? Would $2tn keep you quiet for a few days?

I'm sure Ivan can back me up, but I read recently that she read the new green plan for Scotland before it was voted on. Something about pipelines for green energy access to private lands. Her Majesty's lands won't be affected. Jings. Talk the talk, but don't walk the walk.

Macron is threatened by the nationalist far right in France, so it is electioneering by Macron, waving the French flag... and their ministers literally asking for the EU to punish the uk for leaving, as seen last Friday.

Boris and tories doing the same this side of the channel.

Meanwhile, fishermen lose out and power threats are issued.

As is the norm, her majesty apparently gets access in advance to any legislation that will impact her and her estates.

She thus lobbied for, and was given, an exception to the new laws for her estates.
