It's not clear, he had to say it was a troll before it became clear

Don't change the subject from Tory corruption, anyone would think you had an agenda to keep up
----------------------------------------------------------------------
God you’re so lemon - have some gin & tonic with it, it’ll taste much better.

I’m not changing any subject. You’re the one that keeps talking about it, I’m replying to you.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
"So lemon"

Is this something you learned today? 🤔
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yes I just heard the phrase for the first time today

We’re very much an outlier in western democracies in persisting with FPTP.

Canada still has FPTP. Fvkhead promised to change it during the 2015 election which he won. Then did nothing. His reward was 2 minority governments. Which I think is just as good as PR. As it forces parties to ally on passing legislation.

If we’re getting back to the, “Well, yeah, these guys are terrible, and I didn’t want to have to vote for them; but the other lot would have been worse…” argument, are we all in agreement that any supposedly democratic system that only allows one of two political parties a way to power is broken and needs replacing with an upgrade then?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I'm not in favour of direct PR either though. If one party gets 49% and 7 different parties get various percentages adding up to 51%, they should not be able to form a coalition ahead of the party that got 49%. I'm a big fan of whoever wins the election gets the full and pretty much uninterrupted opportunity to enact their manifestos and if they fail or perform poorly it is completely on them. Basically I want one winner, and for it to be easier for non-established parties to build momentum, but not straight up PR.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

But that's not really politics, is it? Politics should be about compromise and finding ways to work together for the betterment of society.

And do you really win if you get less than 50% of the vote?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yes, compared to a 2nd party getting 20% and third party getting 16% and so on.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
so you are happy with a system that essentially makes several marginal constiuencies kingmakers?

a system where 57% of people can vote against the policies but have those very same policies forced upon them?

doesn't sound like you are a fan of democracy at all

well it was 250 to 232 so there were many a vote not cast

Interesting that despite a three-line whip on the Leadsom amendment, only 250 of 361 Tory MPs voted for it. Lots of discomfort about this on the Government benches. Around 100 stayed away/ rebelled.

Not gonna look good for Boris but people will forget about this after Christmas

FYI this doesn't go to the house if lords either so result stands

Labour's @AngelaRayner confirms party won't take part in new standards system: "Labour will not be taking any part in this sham process or any corrupt committee."

With SNP also abstaining, this is a problem for the Tories, who will now be sitting as judge and jury on own MPs.

Tasty

I can't even continue the troll, of course it's disgraceful what's happened today. This is how you lose elections so I wish they would just stop doing this stupid sheite.

Democracy is dead in this country, MP’s can do what they please and face no punishment for it. A revolution is badly needed, Mubarak style.

PR is the adult system in the room

FPTP is for people who dont really like democracy

AV sits somewhere in the middle, and is probably closest to what you suggest.

Its pretty much a sham these days i agree, and today further underlines it.

A peaceful revolution would be very welcome.. i might stand to be the next prime minister.

Revolutions aren’t meant to be peaceful, they’re a force for good to get rid of corrupt autocrats and despot politicians. Would happily watch Boris and the front bench walk the plank.
