Why Are Spurs Fans So Buoyant? - Explained

win something ffs, I have never witnessed a set of fans as arrogant as u cants, god help us if you do actually win something

My favourite is when Spurs fans say they have been the most consistent team for the last 2 seasons but never have been top of the league.

posted on 8/11/17

Fail, they were top for 13 mins

posted on 8/11/17

The irony is Pochettino 1st season they were top of the league briefly and reached a cup final.

United during there sustained period were still winning FA Cups and European trophies. Not a good comparison.

posted on 8/11/17

If you look back at Man Utd prior to their first PL win in 1992/93, there was a sustained period of finishing in the top 3 or 4 places
------
This is simply not true.
2nd, 6th, 13th, 11th, 2nd , 13th were their 6 finishes before winning the title.

Spurs are more reminiscent of Newcastle in the 90s. A couple of near things, with at least one season where the title should have been won.

They’ve also been consistently beaten to any silverware over those e seasons

What is not to like? We have had a variety of flase dawns over the years, but something invariably comes along to sweep our feet from under us.

Right now we have a fantastic chairman (he is, sorry to those who hanker after a mythical chairman who does not exist) who has overseen us metamorphise from a faded giant who stank up midtable for a about a decade, back in to the elite of the game with a wonderful stadium imminent, and facilities to match.

We have a coach who the fans absolutely adore. Not in a Fergie/Mourinho way either, with a bunker mentality, but one who is widely admired by other fans and who comes across as a proper gent, while in no way looking like a soft touch. Who has spoken of his excitement about our 'project', and his plans to stay here.

The relationship between the two looks rock-solid too. Both speak openly of their admiration for eachother.

There is also the fact the club is geared up to support their joint-ethos. We have a good reputation for giving kids a chance, and a youth system that is churning out potential first-teamers year-on-year.

There is a real feeling of team>individual. Whereas before you felt one key man missing or going would see us fall apart, now the side functions fine without several key men in it. With the exception of probably only Kane, you could see any player going and us not drastically noticing it. Even if Kane is missing we pick results up, as we saw last year. It is a blow, but not disastrous.

With the new stadium comes the bigger wages, and with that the decreased chance of players leaving such as Walker, or disharmony from the likes of Rose.

The key man to all of this is Poch, and as long as he is here you can only see a brighter future.

Of course other fans will goad about trophies so far, but that is short-termism. Something is being built for the long-term here, that will hopefully set us up to compete for many of the big trophies, not just an occasional league cup.

pretty criminal being happy with your team really isn't it i'm sure every spurs fan would welcome a trophy but the fact oppo fans seem upset by spurs fans being happy with their team goes to show how good the team actually is.

i don't think spurs fans are arrogant any longer. we were unnecessarily arrogant for a while during the redknapp era, and maybe have mellowed a bit now.

i would describe the current spurs supporter base as quietly optimistic, proud of the improvements that our team is making, but mindful that we are spurs, and disaster in some unprecedented form is almost certainly not too far around the corner.

we also haven't won anything.

Awful aint it?

The only thing worse than that is some helmet using some irrelevant stats to claim the 6th best team in the league is actually the best

absolutely

looking back, it really is a shame that city got their cash injection when they did.

we had overtaken Liverpool as the 4th best side, and would have been a regular CL side for a while now but city came and blew us away... we managed to hold them off for that one season...

not complaining about it, just making an observation.

again this season, i think we are the second best team in the league from what i have seen, but city are far and away the best and will probably walk the thing

Who cares? If you honestly look back and wet yourself over Rangers winning trophies 20 years ago then you live in the past and have a low quality of life. Its all about enjoyment considering we have little-no impact on the outcome. Spurs fans are enjoying themselves with a successful and impressive team for a change (and personally I am enjoying the bitterness that comes from opposing fans as a result as well)

I cannot remember being so proud of my team since we were all conquering masters in the 60s. Even though we might lose - I cannot remember actually looking forward to the NLD and knowing that for once its the Arsenal fans who are full of foreboding.
