Look, no footballer should be so bad that I laugh when I see them play
I had it with Paulinho at Spurs
Henderson is another example to me
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Then you clearly just have a problem with Henderson because he's not laughably bad. He's just not.

Agreed.
It's a bit silly to call him laughable.

He’s good at what he does, but let’s face it, he’s no Xabi Alonso. Bar Lallana, England don’t possess a midfielder who’ll demand the ball and look to use it properly when the pressure is on.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I don't think anyone, least of all Liverpool fans who are the purported defenders of Henderson, would compare him to Alonso. Xabi was a cut above.
Having watched Henderson for a number of years, his recycling of possession is fine. Not Alonso good but it's fine. Despite the crab reputation he does look to hit forward passes regularly though so his possession stats will never be outstanding.
I'm just a bit baffled by the criticisms Henderson receives. He's a good player who had a good world cup. Nothing more, nothing less.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I’ve not said anything about Liverpool fans views on him
Ive not criticised him.
What’s with the defensive answers?
I know he's not laughably bad objectively because he plays for Liverpool and england so he's doing something right. Like I said, he's got his uses
But in possession at times I find him awful

That really wasn't defensive and I'm sorry if it came across so.
There is a general consensus view that Liverpool fans defend Henderson because of club loyalties, was just trying to point out that we'd be the last people to compare Jordan to Xabi. Different gravy.
And the comment about being baffled by the criticisms was more a general comment on the thread.
I do occasionally feel like you can't say anything on this site without being explicitly clear about your context and it's relevance to the various previous posts. People assume you're having a pop at them.
I think stylistically you warm to midfielders who are good dribblers more than anything Analog. I think most people know Henderson isn’t good enough but the teal issue is Southgate playing one genuine midfielder against Brozovic/Rakitic/Modric more than Hendo being out of his depth.
Had we picked RLC to support Hendo it would have been interesting to see if he would have kept more composure.
Henderson is awful. Southgate should have played a proper defensive midfielder in Dier. Henderson thinks he is Beckanbaeur.

love Sandy. Just rocks up giving no sheet.
Not just dribbling Edin, but composure. Likes of Busquets aren't great dribblers, but they are calm and make good decisions with crisp passing through the lines
Hendo doesn't have composure
Why pick up that one comment then, Robbing? And why do you then you go on and make an assumptions about what I have or haven't seen?
Henderson has ok composure I feel, SF being an exception more than anything. I just think that his game is really limited.
He will almost always pass it back to where he received it when pressed and doesn’t possess the traits to beat a man or dictate tempo to play through the lines. I wouldn’t say it’s a lack of composure because typically he doesn’t make mistakes, it’s more a lack of talent than anything.

Maybe it is a lack of talent. Either way it makes me dislike him as a footballer

Seriously, you have an issue. Not only will you not admit you're wrong, cast doubts on what others say and make assumptions when they prove you wrong you come out with this nugget.
"He did well, but only Liverpool fans on here are saying he was one of the best." That's what I said and I believe you quoted.
I've seen other say he was good, but no one else other than Liverpool fans (if I am specific, it's not all, but all that have said it were Liverpool fans) say he was one of the best England performers.
He was good. Like a few others in the team. Not one of the best performers.

No offence Sandy my friend but Dier was shocking at the WC. Henderson, for all his limitations, was much better (and is a very good player).
As others have said, both of them should have played vs Croatia, so Dier could have done the dirty work and Henderson could have pulled the strings a bit more.
When only one of them played at a time, they had to do both to do the DM and CM jobs on their own - this was never going to work against the better teams.
Got to say I font like Henderson and Dier together. Id rather have Delph in there personally.
I like Dier but he cant pass for sh!t.
Playing both of them together never works, we've seen it time and time again
Henderson would never 'pull the strings' against that Croatia midfield, he's simply not good enough
He could have been played there alongside one of RLC, Delph or Dier. This was one of the games that needed a tweak before the match. Southgate needs to learn from this.
They wrre all over us until he went off tbf

Dier is really good at passing when given time on the ball, a luxury you can't afford in midfield. Which is why I really hope we move him to CB as I believe he has what it takes to become World Class.
Hmmm in a three maybe Edin. I feel he's just been coached really well rather than having any vision. Top attitude though.
I think with time he can make it in a two. He just needs the experience there to make mistakes and learn - he is only 24. He is really good in the air, as I said great on the ball given time, more mobile than people give him credit and a good tackler of the ball. He also is pretty tactically astute.
Toby Alderweirled when he was younger was also quite the utility player often playing DM and RB - I really do see similarities with both players which is why I really want to see Dier give up trying to be a CM.
