Look on 81 mins. All the Croatia players have to do is get vaguely near him for him to boot the ball up the pitch ffs
I think we all watched the game and there were worse performers by far.
Kane being the main offender. Utterly hopeless.
I'm not interested in any 'your player was worse than ours' nonsense. If you want to slate Kane make a separate article. This is genuine discusssion about Henderson, no need to be so offended by it

He’s good at what he does, but let’s face it, he’s no Xabi Alonso. Bar Lallana, England don’t possess a midfielder who’ll demand the ball and look to use it properly when the pressure is on.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Wilshere?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He’s been fit for the majority of the last 2 seasons, fact is that he’s been average.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You could also be talking about Lallana. His fitness issues and consistency are hardly great.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Lallana was impressive for both club and country in 16/17

Rather than just name calling, childishly, do you mind refuting any of my points? I'm pretty sure if you read the article fully you would see I said you cannot put the full blame on Henderson? Does that excuse the fact he had a diabolical performance? No
----------------------------------------------------------------------
What name calling? I’ve just said you have no knowledge, which is very clear. I’ve already pointed out why I think he wasn’t very effective against Croatia, which certainly holds more weight than anything you’ve said.
The fact you’re using a link that is clearly designed to see Henderson in a bad light, with no balance whatsoever, is the real laughable issue here.
The link shows the poor football skills that Henderson displayed in the match. Lack of composure, lack of technical ability, constantly hoofing the ball. Your excuses for this, while I agree he wasn't surrounded by great midfielders to help him, do not justify his performance imo. It was amateur stuff
I don't know why people are complaining just about the players. The midfield set up was wrong. That falls on the coach. Henderson shouldn't have been there playing alongside Alli or Lingard as CMs. One should have dropped for another Cm.
Kane needs to play as a nine. Him dropping deeper doesn't help the team, especially when Sterling is the most furthest forward.
Another Cm, creative and/or box to box type would help. Two of Alli, Sterling and Lingard ahead of them.
A 3421 formation if you will, more or less how it is now with a tweak.
Suggesting that anybody who criticises Henderson 'lacks knowledge' is bizarre to say the least. Either you hold him in such high esteem that you won't stand for any observations about the negative aspects of his play, or you're just hitting out at somebody for criticising a player who plays for your club

I’ve already stated that Henderson is a limited footballer, so your above comment is way off. And I’ve not said anywhere that anyone who criticises him lacks knowledge. What I am saying is that your use of that clip to form the basis of your argument proves your embarrassing lack of knowledge. If you did know anything, you’d know that most midfielders would not be able to operate to their best when they’re asked to carry out a virtually impossible task, like Henderson was. He more than held his own during the first half, against two of the best midfielders in the world. I see no mention of this by yourself, probably because you don’t know enough to see this. It was no surprise to see him fade in the second half, not many could keep that level up for 90 mins.

The clip is not the basis of my argument. I've argued this for years. The clip only serves as very clear evidence of what Henderson is capable of on a football pitch when the opposition get near him, and it's not pretty (nor is it effective)
Playing with semi-forwards in Dele and Lingard isn't the easiest of tasks, I've previously agreed with that. But there are fundamentals you want in a top midfield player. Touch, technique, awareness, composure, decision-making and passing accuracy should be solid regardless of the set up. When he receives the ball and hoofs it constantly, there is no valid excuse in my mind. It's rank amateur and what I'd expect to see in the lower leagues
England as a team were worse in the second half, including Henderson, but the video evidence also shows him doing similarly bad thigs in the first half, when he and the team were not fading
There really is no need for the patronising way in which you speak on here. It serves no purpose other than making yourself look like a bit of a bell
I've been told The Mighty Reds is the scouse sizzle so he gotta go

Your singling out of Henderson, when he was far from the worst performer, makes you look like a bell. You can say as many times as you want that this article is only about Henderson, but for it to gain any shred of credibility, the roles of other players in the team need looking at. It’s arguable that Kane’s failure to show up when really needed, had a far bigger influence on our failure to win, or Walkers awful defending that led to their winner, rather than a midfielder who was on to a hiding to nothing from the kick off.

This isn't just about the Croatia match though. This is a general point about the standard of deep midfielders this country produces, and their type. We don't produce enough technical ones like other big football nations. Henderson is the biggest demonstrator of this, for me, because the way he plays is so old school English i.e run hard, tackle hard, long passes, long shots but with little flair and composure. I just hope the successful youth teams have less of Henderson's 'type', as I believe it will surely benefit us in the future
If he's a wum I likely don't know him as I tend to avoid those articles

Stones was the major culprit on the winner, he went to sleep.
Re the actual article _ I would agree with the OP up to a point but Hendo shouldn't be singled out.
He really isn't good enough to be England's main CM but there aren't a lot of alternatives right now. He cannot control and dictate a game and that is what was required. He would do better in a midfield 4 with a more technically gifted player alongside him leaving Hendo to do the water carrying.
A scarecrow would do a better job of running the England midfield than Horrendo
