Cersei being the final boss is hilarious

It’s funny saying ‘final boss’ jon vs the dragon reminded me of boss fights on dark souls...which are just as hopeless

The lighting wasn’t that bad at all, what did you expect, wibterfell castle to look like a national trust castle, with striplights

Yeah agree. Turn the lights off in the room you're watching in and it's fine.

Maybe you all have shīt TVs.

Brilliantly done and accuarte.

Only one missing was Bran.
4/10
Great vision but is a lazy bar steward. Has the ability to influence the game but would rather take a back seat and play 3d games on his oculus.

Reckon we'll see a lot more detail about the battle come out in later episodes

Bran had to be doing something, masking Aryas approach somehow

Jon when he stands and faces the dragon (guarding godswood) shouts "go go go"

Little things like that

"Literally tried to roar at a dragon."

Not sure he needed to mask her approach tbh, the scene with her in the library was to show just how quietly she moves (she makes less noise than a droplet of blood dropping less than a couple of feet).

It does need a scene to show what he was up to though.

My honest opinion is that the battle and everything about the White Walkers is just an afterthought. But after all that suspense, mystery & build up....that's how they go out???

I feel like one of the theories was the real battle and the changed it up at a later stage because they wanted to do something that nobody thought of.

55 days of filming for just poor lighting, pure chaos and a sneak attack

I think some need to adjust some settings on their TV, I thought the lighting was excellent and very cleverly done, particularly around the Night King and the absence of light that surrounds the army of the dead.

Arya killing him has been telegraphed since the first season, even more so in recent episodes. It made complete sense to me both for her to kill him and also to not make it the final battle. That whole storyline has been about the relationship with death, Arya's in particular. I'm expecting a couple of scenes with Bran to fully bring it all together.

The main story has always been about the humans though, Martin has said a few times about LOTR that he always wanted to know what happened after the event, that's what we've got now. GoT has always been about subverting what's expected, not having the final battle against the army of the dead is them doing the same as they've always done.

It's not that they defeated the White Walkers before the battle with Cersei...it's the manner in which it was done.

You build this enemy up as impending death for the whole world and it's that easy to defeat him? Poor from the directors.

thought too many big characters survived, but maybe they are saving that for the new few episodes

It’s called the long night not the the long brightly lit evening

The whole lighting was perfect especially with the use of fire.

Perfect

It wasn’t easy to defeat him though. He’d won two huge battles already, the entire of Bran and Aryas storylines had been building up to that point and it was only by getting direct access to him that the dead could ever be defeated - even fire was useless against him.

The living lost the majority of the wildlings, the entire of the Dothraki army and the nights watch just to get that one opportunity. Aryas training was all geared up to the events in that episode, as was Brans (who clearly knew how it had to happen the minute he gave Arya the dagger).

They were outnumbered and outclassed, tactics and strength was never going to win it

The books lead me to believe it would be some sort of heroic sacrifice that saved them (azor ahai stabbing his wife through the heart) but Aryas hail mary was foreshadowed we just didn't see the signs

There's no excuses for the terrible lighting, Winterfell is dark, it was winter, white walkers fight in mist, etc... all weak justifications. GoT's has the biggest budget of any TV show in history and at certain points the color correction in post-pro looked non-existent. The use of motion blur in parts was sloppy and looked downright amateurish.

It wouldn't have been so bad if the camerawork wasn't so snappy allowing people's eyes to focus, but as we know from Battle of The Ba$tards the director likes the action to be claustrophobic and fast so the color schemes need to be on point. It just wasn't good.

But aside from that, and the general abuse of time consistency the show's developed since S5/S6, it was a lot of fun with an ending that NO-ONE saw coming. The epitome of keep it simple stupid in the face of conspiracies blown out of proportion (myself included in that), and knowing GoT has such a compelling and detestable villain like Cersci waiting in the wings they can actually get away with it.

cersei being the final boss is funny af, show took a serious dip in quality after season 4

There is no Night King in the books, if I remember correctly. Just the presence of the White Walkers in the background...so it's the show that built up this character. So after all that it's just a quick shimmy of the knife and it's a wrap.

I enjoyed the battle, don't get me wrong but that doesn't mean it couldn't have been done better.

You can enjoy the show but still call them out on their bullshiit. There's nothing wrong with that.

About tactics though... Awful

Putting your catapults up on front lines, sending the dothrakinto thier deaths, not having much in the way of castle defences etc
