Soldado is the best example of a poor signing getting let off easy because he tried IMO. I never got on board with that
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He was crap. Mercifully Kane emerged and saved us. I can’t even remember where Sold-a-dud-o went or what became of him, presume he piiisssed off back to Spain.
Vinny J was another, just couldn’t cut it.
Kulu back in training. If Madders is not available for City where does he play?
Instead of BJ or PEH or Skipp...

I think Spence is very very lucky to get a move to Genoa. That's a lottery ticket for him. Hopefully some of that Italian professionalism rubs off on him.

I notice Bryan Gil is up for sale not a loan. feckin right
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The fecking Weetabix Man.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Worst Spurs signing in the past 20 years
----------------------------------------------------------------------
no chance.
not even the worst signing in the current squad.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Pound for pound (no pun intended) Ndombele is obviously the worst signing in our history. Record signing (still) and biggest flop.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Strong disagree. Spurs got a decent season out of Ndombele, 91 total games and 10 goals. Nowhere near what was hoped obviously, and he's still near the bottom of the pile for sure, but Gil has fewer than half the games (41) and precisely zero goals. Certainly nothing close to a decent season.
Obviously the focus is on Ndombele because of the price tag, but FFS, Gil cost £20m plus Lamela before going back to Sevilla on loan the year after.
I really don't get why Gil gets such an easy ride. He's been an absolute facking disaster. He's cost a fortune, barely played and when he has featured he's produced literally nothing.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Wait what? 91 appearances and 10 goals? No chance Ndombele played 91 times for Spurs.
He was here for three seasons before he started this series of loans, played 63 times got 6 goals and 5 assists, cost £53m on extortionate wages and has been a complete waste of facking space and time. We’ve had some reasonably big priced flops over the years but at least the others I can think of flopped while trying, Ndombele hasn’t even done that. You will never convince me this guy hasn’t been our worst ever signing, there is no case for the defence.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I mean
The stats are straight off Transfermarkt, and I literally just did make the case for the defence
But sure, let's exaggerate for dramatic effect
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Lots of sources I’ve looked at state 63 games. 91 seems like a lot. Don’t think he played a minute under Poch did he, because of being injured when he arrived? Jose used him, but he was on out here 18 months and Conte didn’t fancy him. I’d be amazed if he played 91 games but even if he did, he’s been a waste of time and space nonetheless.
I used to offer some mitigation for the guy; he was young and coming to a new country, the coach he signed for got sacked straight away and we brought in managers that played a style that didn’t really suit his game. But it’s coming up on 5 years now, you cross reference the fee with the wages with the expectation with the actual return and it’s been an unmitigated disaster. The thing with Gil is, he’s not all that. Ndombele actually has a lot of ability which makes his situation even worse.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Thats some memory you have, played under Poch and scored the equaliser against Villa.
In the opening game of the season ^ I meant to add
Yeah I remember him playing under Poch. He never really looked up to speed but he kinda had to play him init
Remember he looked great in that game, the game against Liverpool and the one against Brighton
Gil was too expensive for a young prospect winger from another league, who must have a 50% hit rate. Someone said about Njie earlier. No one cares because he was at a disposable price. Aside from costing too much Gil's pretty much done what could be expected

Not specific games tbh but I do recall there was enough to be a bit excited. We were generally poor, though. It's not like he was doing a Bentancur and elevating the side
I tell ya what people forget, the first half season or so that Lo Celso put in. He was the only one really trying in that midfield.

absolute joke some people are calling Soldado worse than Adebayor.
Soldado bled for Tottenham in the time he was here. He just couldn't get the ball in the net.
That other downed tools on the bigger salary the club had ever paid as soon as he got a contract.

Yeah I didn't mean the start of the season. After the Covid break IIRC. Like I say, probably best of a bad bunch and everything was a mess. But he was solid. Scored a decent goal against City from the wing.
Just saying, people always act like he's been chit the whole time and like they're surprised he can be good in the PL.
david bentley and darren bent were both bad signings, but neither of them downed tools.
The main I’m currently loving is when I see our squad now I don’t see the poch squad anymore.
It really feels fresh and exciting. The rebuild has been done now just add couple players a transfer window and we are good for the forseible
My main goal for next season though is to have the numbers 2,3,4,5,11 on the pitch regularly
My main goal for next season is to enjoy watching us play in the champions league.

2 - Porro
3 - Udogie
5 - vdV
11 - Kulusevski
4 - will be Skipp still but I’d like Sarr to have it if skipped moved on.
To be honest, I would take Europa League (the real one) we should definitely be at the level to have a good go at winning that.
100% take any euro competitions next year but secretly I’ve enjoyed having this year off
