This is something that will resume solely to get it over with. It'll be crap to watch, crap to play in and a legal minefield when players contracts run out and the window opens on 01/06.
Just give Liverpool the title and everybody is happy.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
What about next season which will also start behind closed doors?
Didn't think that through, did you?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Delay it until September.
Gives football a clean break. People's argument that the integrity of the game is undermined by not finishing the season are ignoring every aspect of the situation.
Where is the fairness and integrity in playing behind closed doors, teams losing their form and fitness, teams motivation after such a break, transfer and contract disputes etc.
A 3 month break in a season doesn't make it a season. It makes it a fallacy with an asterisk against any teams success or failures (Liverpool aside).
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It's highly likely to be behind closed doors in September, plus if there is a second wave then there may be another long break.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I would say for the rest of the year, expect behind closed doors footy to be with us for a while.

Biggest problem for me with restarting is how they plan on stopping large crowds gathering outside stadiums, hotels & bus routes etc. Then once there is a plan for that, how do you counter the inevitable gathering of friends & families at each others houses to watch games.
Take Liverpool for example. They're two wins away from winning the league and you can't seriously expect everybody is going to adhere to social distancing during the run in.
Two wins needed from 9 games and I definitely wont be able to resist the urge to parade down the street naked, amongst as many Liverpool supporters as possible, revelling in the fact they facked it up once it again
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The league is more important to them than peoples safety it seems.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Nah. But I’ll trust the people who have been risk assessing the situation ahead of some bitter nobody on the internet.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Maybe people aren’t bitter they just value lives over a game of football. I understand it’s tough for you given you are desperate to win the league.
Maybe think more before commenting.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Nope it's bitterness. Liverpool fans have said all along that we want football to return when it is safe to do so, but you get the odd few idiots such as yourself who ignore the "when it is safe to do so" part and create the narrative that we don't care about people dying as long as we win the league. It's quite low really, and you should think more before commenting

It’s the non Liverpool fans- the ones without an agenda- who are the bitter ones? Interesting.
Nope it's the agenda that makes you bitter.
i want football to resume as soon as possible. that ok bub.

You want it to restart before The PL/FA/UEFA time you out for restarting the Premier League before they cancel it.
Why is it that it is Liverpool fans and a Leeds fan who cannot admit this. Shame on you.

what a mess of a post.
All the dates in the link from the OP are in line with Uefa's directive. Also its the PL who have suggested these dates to fit in with other Europeans leagues looking to complete their seasons
Social distancing guidelines will continue a long time after lockdown. Probably into the New Year when an anti virus might become available.
Meanwhile if we play football it will be more than 2 meters apart. They will even have to make kissing, spitting, sweating and biting a criminal offence.

so how comes plenty of other countries like Germany and Italy and working on getting footy back on the go in the coming months
I think end the league as it finished champions, promoted, relegated and start again when it is safe to and if that means behind closed door then so be it.
Any sensible person will happily admit that Liverpool are deserved champions this year and that’s that.

even though spurs are having an awful season, i am in favour of completing it. in fact, if they don't complete it i would probably lose some interest. whats the point in supporting a team in a league which just knocks a competition on the head half way through. unprecedented times but you have to find a way to complete it and put the integrity of your competition over money for ONCE

You have to consider the fact it will affect seasons to come.
Not just next season, and next summer, but there's a winter WC in 2022 and we aren't kicking off that season early, how are we handling that one?
"Just give Liverpool the trophy. It matters more to them than anything sensible"
These comments are not helpful. Liverpool are deserving champions and whilst I agree, just give them the title and end the season, of course they are desperate to win it, it's been 30 years. Most of their fans on this site haven't seen them lift a league title.
I think the best solution from a football perspective is to end this season, award Liverpool the title, find fair ways of deciding european places/relegation/promotions and then spend whatever time and resources we have before the start of next season to prepare for that next season and make preparations so that next season can run as fully and properly as possible. I know that there are problems associated with TV money and other such things which make this not the preferable option though.
It's a shame though, I think most fans (minus Liverpool fans of course) would be more excited for the start of a new season than the continuation of an old season they've probably lost interest in.
*I say minus Liverpool fans because I'm sure they'd rather watch the end of this season and see it played out in the full to watch their team lift the title rather than see a new season begin, not because I was suggesting anything else, just to be clear.
