In what way is it going to save hundreds of clubs? They will be showing a handful of PL teams. Clubs in the lower divisions will not be saved by it, or even some PL clubs.
They will have to find other ways of raising money.
It's not being done to rescue clubs, it's being done for Sky etc.
In general it's not being done for the fans, or the players.
Start when it's safe, get behind the project.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
There was an article in the media explaining this. I'll try to find the link. The money will flow down the leagues.
I guarantee you clubs will be saved by the PL. Taxpayers will be loathe to do so. PL have already given 125m and I'm sure more funds will be released in future if football does not resume.
This cannot happen if the PL itself is facing financial problems like three quarters billion in rebates, can it?
I thought you'd be aware of all this. Don't think you've considered all the angles in forming your opinion tbh.

excellent question.
I cannot see how behind closed doors games will enable clubs to survive in the lower leagues.

Which would explain your stance.
Your decision is devoid of some vital facts.

Apparently Liverpool's CEO was met with an 'awkward silence' when he tried to convince other PL chiefs that the season must be finished at any cost.

True. Mismanaged clubs that were already heading into the red will not benefit from this.

I am aware of it. Money will not trickle down, in what way? The PL will not be using their money to save many lower league clubs, do you think they are going to pass on billions?
But my opinion remains that though it has a lot of money, it is both a sport and an entertainment, and should restart when safe.
The same problems affect theatre, ballet, opera, restaurants, nightclubs. Anywhere a crowd gathers.
Let's get on top of the health issues first.
If it was the last round on games fair enough,
but there are still plenty to be played.
None of it affects me personally, as I don't live in England I am no longer a match going fan, and I don't have Sky or Canal+.
So if it's done and works out well then 'Bravo,
or chapeau as we say over here.
But I have doubts, and don't like the ethics of it either.
I find it amusing how critical people are of BT / Sky for being money grabbers yet in the same breath would be slating them if they were still being made to pay for Sky Sports subscriptions despite no sport happening.
Some people genuinely expecting these broadcasters to just suck up the losses
Every business has an interest in getting back to normal as quickly and as safely as possible. It doesnt make them money grabbers - its life, its peoples businesses and livelihoods. There is no need to single out football and its associated broadcasters/media as being greedy

This is some three paragraph report by a freelance journalist, with no quotes, certain to be hogwash straight outta his rear. If you think about it, there's no way he'd he met with silence
People believe this sheet so it keeps being made
Somebody at the mirror must be banging him for this to make their website.
There's a reason the newspaper trade is booming and that's for their accurate and up to the minute content. So I have no reason to doubt that the awkward silence did happen.
Suck it up scousers.
OK, let's do a Liverpool version.
Peter Moore's attempts to complete the league were met by enthusiastic cheers and rapturous applause by other club chairmen.
"I couldn't get a word in edgeways" claimed the Liverpool CEO. "Some were saying I should get a Knighthood".
