From a selfish point of view if City was banned from Europe they would walk the league with 1 game a week for a season as they would keep players like KDB, Sterling and still buy new players so I don't want them banned. Just give them a 5 year transfer ban.

as for op, I couldn't agree more
tbh, I also don't care at all for the outcome. All I care is that utd do what they have to do now and going forward
----------------------------------------------------------------------

What couldn’t you agree more about? The lack of evidence based opinions on the thread?!
----------------------------------------------------------------------
money is king when it comes to the law in this kind of cases.
tbh it is not something i have paid attention to nor have any more insight about than the occassional headline.

I am more interested in the reaction of fans to the verdict whichever way than I am interested in the verdict

If City get the full 2 year ban, I can see Pep jumping ship first when his contract is up next year.

I've never bought this argument. Having just one thing to play for brings its own kind of pressure. I've never seen anyone struggle in the league because they have the Champions League to play.

The death of FFP is here. Finally allowing the long established UEFA favourites to be challenged.

Who cares about a balance sheet. Football is played on the pitch. Just a way for Platini to keep his paymasters at the top when he set this up, corrupt rule from a corrupt man.

this is actually a very interesting point and I bever know how to feel

I personally feel momentum is the most important thing. If the UCL gives you positive momentum because you are doing well in it, surely that psychological benefit is greater than the couple days rest especially in the earlier stages

We all know City won't be banned.

people need to realise this is not uefa it is cas.

the result could be anything and I dont see the point in sweating it.

its about preventing a team financially doping not preventing them play a competition.

a 200mil fine is as good as a closure order to most clubs which just goes to show why city are what they are.

30mil fine plus 2 years out of cl would bankrupt say ajax.

city, didn't even blink.

It was a corrupt rule designed to stop clubs like City/PSG etc from kicking the establishment.

Europa League yes because you will sometimes get teams qualifying who don't have the squad to compete on multiple trophies or they are new to it so they haven't had the chance to adapt to it. With the CL though, especially someone like City who have always qualified for it this last decade it would be part of the normal routine.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

It might be part of the routine but I don’t think you can underestimate the effect of having 7 days to prepare for one game vs having half that and then going again for another. Not sure you’d be able to find stats to back up either opinion tbh without going to town but I always thought it was quite noticeable if we had played midweek especially under Mancini and Pellegrini.

This isn’t a matter of Uefa backing down or otherwise; Cas are making the decision, and they’re completely independent of Uefa.

Today is actually much bigger than City. FFP won’t persist if City’s ban is overturned today. Not in its present form, anyway.

this - squad quality and depth is key too. It will probably do a club like leicester more harm than good (epl wise) qualifying for europe

on a side note - I know they lost 3 - 0 but i cannot help but feel lampard is building a solid team. If cty were banned chelsea might benefit.

Would non chelsea fans rather chelsea in the UCL or city?

For the sake of balance, United should've been faced with some form of punishment as well for bribing Monaco with £7m to sign Falcao off them.

Would've taught them a lesson to not sign a player who's just been out with an ACL injury.

I honestly don't know what you are talking about but I am more than convinced the business side of footbaall is very corrupt.

Probably why I am indifferent to the verdict

Well when an owner spends billions of pounds then gets bored a free years later the club will care about the balance sheet a lot as it goes into administration.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

City owners not bored. Just look at what they have done at the club and local area. They are not walking away.

“This isn’t a matter of Uefa backing down or otherwise; Cas are making the decision, and they’re completely independent of Uefa.”

You wouldn’t of thought so going off this thread though 😂

Everyone’s got an opinion on it, and ultimately that’s all it is as none of us are privy to the evidence. They should be looking to adapt ffp though. I understand people don’t like the way the club have gone about things, and in truth in the early days the pursuit of Lescott for example wasn’t exactly endearing. But the club has no debt, is now profitable and the methods have safeguarded our best players being cherrypicked by bigger clubs over the last 10 years.

I know ffp only applies to clubs in the European competitions, but in a world where you’ve still got your Wigan’s, Burys and Bolton’s all sinking, is it really fit for purpose?

The WikiLeaks documents found that United paid Monaco £7m for a friendly game with them back in 2014 as a thank you for giving them Falcao on loan.
