And for all the claims that "the big clubs don't take domestic competitions seriously", there has been one non big 6 winner of the FA cup in the past decade, and 2 of the League Cup.

The shield is a glorified plate and a game I get the impression that the players genuinely could not be ersed.

At least the LC is a trophy of note, however it should be scrapped or at least give teams in Europe the chance to decide to opt out if they wish.

Cup winners cup has been gone for years mate.

The one bleeding trophy we didn't win when available

the other issue is timing - the charity shield at least serves as the offical kick-off to the season, as a last (competitive) friendly for the two teams involved, and as a curtain raiser for everyone else.

the other two happen during the season, are basically a distraction, and can even lead to the teams involved having to deprioritise/throw other tournaments.

We completed the set of European trophies under he who shall not be named.

When you are in meeting with the big boys like Barca, Real, Bayern etc the only cup they care about is the world cup and not some domestic cup. We are the big boys so can have these elite conversations. Try and keep up

The league cup is the equivalent of the johnson's paint trophy bar the fact the competition somehow still retains a europa league place

It is not even administered by the FA! it is a EFL competition that by rights the prem clubs are only guests in.

I do think that the only time the Club World Cup is legitimate is when the winning team won their domestic league AND the Champions League the season before. Only then can you say you're the best in your country, your continent and your planet.

I’ve got a feeling we’ll cooock it up, Irish. Though I wouldn’t be surprised if Wolves beat Chelsea anyway.

afain nobody cares about either in the cold light of day.

99% of the world population won't even know a 100k prize league cup exists in england or care. As i said it is administrated by the EFL, the lower league in england so remove the euopea spot like uefa wants and the competiion becomes truely irrelevant.

OF course the world club is a mini tournament with make weights plus the south american and European champions. Of course FIFa would like to make it bigger and more lucrative.
But the reality is the south american take it more seriously, the european teams win it more and theres a whopping great cash prize for it.

so 98% of the world don't care about it compared to 99% of the world on the league cup
