CWC miles more prestigious, because it takes into account what your team have had to do to earn a place spot there.

The world club championship is a joke of a competition. It is like an Emirates Cup, but with teams nobody has ever heard of.

I have no doubt whatsoever that you wouldn’t be saying this had Spurs not humiliated themselves in the CL final. As it is, you’re quite safe sticking to this version of your ever changing opinion, as Spurs now have as much chance of playing in the CWC as Telford.

Much as Id like to take the opinion of some Man Utd fans online why do people think Liverpool so demonstrably binned the league cup so that they could take a full squad to the CWC?

Liverpool are an elite professional football club so them clearly disagreeing with some fans on here seems odd.

No, its winning the champions league thats prestigious, the Club world cup whether you win or lose makes no difference to how that achievement is viewed and it doesn't add anything to the achievement.

I’ve got a lot of time for the league club, you get some good aways and it’s a tidy earner for the lower league clubs.

Would prefer it to be at a neutral ground for the final though.

Nobody really knows what CWC means or where it will pop up next, usually you end up playing a 2nd division side from Peru in the final...i think

Both trophies are pretty pee poor.

The world club one may as well be given to whoever wins the CL as you would have to be pretty poor not to win it by half time against what amounts to some sheep farmers and part time drug dealers from around the world while the league cup is played out my mostly reserve sides til the semi finals at least.

To mention either as an honour is a little embarrassing.

4 trophies should matter to a Prem league club at the start of any season.

League Cup
Prem title
FA Cup
CL/Europa if qualified.

All other trophies are irrelevant vanity projects foisted upon us by the various world wide football organisations.

We absolutely mauled Sao Paulo in the 2005 final and lost 1-0. 3 goals ruled out for offside, one of them was clearly onside. 17 corners, 21 shots to their 4, hit the woodwork on numerous occasions and Rogerio Ceni in goal for them producing a blinding performance.

Real Madrid didn't even reach the final and finished fourth in 2000.
Liverpool lost the final in 2005.
Barcelona lost the final in 2006.
Chelsea lost the final in 2012

Personally think every trophy is a trophy to be won, so if you in it then try and win it.

As for prestige I guess it depends on the club and fan mentality.

What I mean is a lower club would see the charity shield being won on the same level as a top club sees the CL

Out of the two, the League Cup is more difficult to win for an English side. Winning the CWC is a formality for the CL winners.
