It’s not, though. The league cup, albeit not the biggest competition, actually has a rich history. The club world cup doesn’t and is just an afterthought.
Liverpool fans wouldn’t give a shiiiiit about the club world cup had that not won it. It’s just typical of you trying to make your achievements into something more than they are.

Both Guardiola and Mourinho have been given endless amounts of cash at City and Chelsea respectively and therefore had big squads, which means their second team is better than their opponents second team. This is a major part of the reason why they do well in it. However this will now change with Mourinho as he won't get jobs like that anymore having regressed and now managing Spurs where he has to prioritise the league.

The league Cup was literally created as a money spinner so that clubs could play midweek evening games (when they all got floodlights) and get more money from fans.
The club world cup has only existed about 20 years and so of course it hasn't really built up too much history yet. It also very rarely contains an English team which means people don't pay attention to it.
The FA cup has a longer history than the European cup but it doesn't mean it is anywhere near as prestigious. The English wabted very little to do with the European Cup or even the World Cup (International one) in early days because they looked down on anything to do with the game that came from abroad.
The club world cup is a money spinner ffs.

Yes -like the league cup was when it was created.
And yet one is actually seen as a worthy prize and the other is seen as the equivalent of a pre season tour but in the middle of the season.
I think Jose will take the League Cup seriously. That's something I do like about him. He'll always try to win silverware. Hell he even claimed the Community Shield as part of a 'treble'.
As for the Club World Cup it's nice to win and it may get more prestigious in future. It only confirms you as best in the world though if you win your league and the Champions League the previous season. Then you can truly say you're the best in your country, continent and planet. đ

If you take them both at face value, the league cup is far harder to win.
But the fact you have to win the CL to get into the CWC probably puts it a lil higher
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The question is not which is harder, it's which is most prestigious? That's clearly the CWC. For a start you get £100k for the League Cup and $10m for the CWC. Everybody around the world knows about the CWC, they don't know about the Football League Cup. You have to win the top Cup competition in each continent to get into the CWC. It's clearly more prestigious.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Then probably league cup, English football is massive and the league cup has a massive history within that.
The balance may be slowly changing, but I'd still say the league cup edges it

The timeframe between them is also much longer which, in hindsight, is probably the most important point!
Anyone claiming winning the CWC is a huge achievement should go and look at recent Brazilian and Argentinian country squads, and tot up how many of the players played in their domestic leagues.
Because if wiki is in any way correct, the answer is "not many at all". Of the 42 players given here, for instance, 12 of them play in Brazil, and they have 162 caps between them. Which sounds impressive, until you realise that 118 of those belong to dani alves.
Flamengo players in this list total 17 caps for Brazil; Liverpool players 88 caps. With very, very few exceptions, players playing in brazil (or argentina) are generally past it, not made it yet, or will never make it.

The league cup is probably harder to win on its own, and it a bigger achievement.
However you could argue to qualify for a CWC you have to win Europe’s biggest club prize.
Think we all know the club World Cup is a bit of a waste of time, much like the charity shield and the super cup.
I’d say the league cup.
As a standalone competition, I think it’s harder to win and deserving of more respect.
Of course, in the real world though things aren’t isolated so any club competing in the CWC have won big to get there and the respect they deserve for that is taken into account, so it’s not a straightforward comparison.
