Which is more of a prestigious trophy

Why is it so hard to understand a simple question. I’m asking out of the club World Cup and the league cup which is the better trophy. That’s it.

Basically to win the world club cup means for European teams you have to win either the CL or the Europa plus the European Super cup.

Those European nights in two legged competitions are absolutely brilliant. Especially for the later rounds. Wouldn’t swap one of those for the league cup let alone any associated trophy.

Ask any Liverpool fan if they would swap the 4-0 v Barca for the league cup and they say fack off.

You didn’t play Barcelona in the club World Cup. You’re talking about a different competition. Why is this so furrrking complicated for some people to understand.

That's not what you asked at all. You asked which is more prestigious.

Prestigious (adjective): "inspiring respect and admiration; having high status."

In football terms, I don't think there is any higher status than champions of the world.

Especially when you also have to be champions of Europe along the way.

Except that's not really how most people see the CWC at all, is it?

We played the champions of South America..

We knocked Barcelona out. the greatest single performance in the CL ever.

give it some history and maybe one day they might.
the league cup is totally useless, big teams walking to the final and luck of the draw being a big reason for winning it.
you can say the same for the route to the cwc but the level of talent is much higher. you don't have to beat oxford to get there though.

A few hypotheticals in there but ultimately it's about opinion.

I think the CWC is massively lacking in credibility, myself and that's nothing to do with Liverpool being the holders.

most things football related are very opinionated. right now i'm not overly interested in the cwc because leeds can't try and win it this year. to see teams in the championship starting weakened team tells me the league cup lost much of the prestige it might of had.
but thinking back to when man utd were on top it was a bit insulting when a lot of their fans were calling it the mickey mouse cup. things change.

There will always be a group of fans at any club who are hypocritical or just plain wind up merchants but you're right - it's all relative.

But no question in my mind is that the only set of fans who care about the CWC are the winners, and even then, a lot don't.

I’d opt to win the club World Cup every time..

As it means you’ve won two trophies to actually get there.

League cup anyone in the whole league can enter by default.

Allow me to educate on the nuances of the world club cup which is preceded by success in European competition (alien to the Man City affiliated I know)

Firstly - to win either CL or Europa League
Secondly - to win the European Super cup

Thereon invited to compete in the world club cup.

posted on 25/7/20

No you just have to win the CL. Only way you can qualify from Europe without winning the CL is if you’re champions of the host country. But it’s never been hosted in Europe, because nobody gives a shiiiiit about it.
