Is there anything more gammon in this context than thinking the English league cup could be bigger than playing the champions of every continent on the planet?

I’ve got a feeling we’ll cooock it up, Irish. Though I wouldn’t be surprised if Wolves beat Chelsea anyway.

Is there anything more snowflake than considering anything other than football related factors in this discussion?

Nobody really cares about the world club cup, though.

I remember our league cup wins far more fondly than our club world cup win. FIFA have been trying to make it a thing for years but nobody really cares.

let me fix this thread

If you are man utd, city or cheslea fan vote 5

if you are other clubs vote 3

If you are liverpool vote 1

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Just vote honestly man. It's OK to be a Liverpool fan and admit the league cup is an actual trophy (not a big trophy in terms of prestige, but a trophy still) and than it's better to win the league cup than the Club world cup which I consider on the same level as the Charity Shield, or in other words, worthless.

You won the league anyway, that's bigger than both of them.

Let's be honest there isn't much prestige or interest in either of these trophies ... nice to win them if you can though.

don't think i've ever heard any set of fans particularly go on about charity shields - whether at PL, European, or world level - until this season.

And for all the claims that "the big clubs don't take domestic competitions seriously", there has been one non big 6 winner of the FA cup in the past decade, and 2 of the League Cup.

So the answer is obvious, though that won't stop this article descending into a predictable bunfight.

I like what you did there. Stated what your opinion was and worded it so that anyone who disagrees with you will seem unreasonable.....

The CWC isn't a proper trophy, same with the european super cup and charity shield. They should make a seperate category for super cups instead of counting it on the same level as proper trophies. Mourinho started it in his first spell at Chelsea when he included charity shields in his trophy count

World Clubs cup is in the same category as the Super Cup and Community Shield in my view. You have to have achieved something to get there but winning it means little. Saying that I’d probably prefer to win the WCC over the league cup. League cup means very next to nothing these days imo.

I really enjoyed it and the players looked made up. Worth more money than the league cup too.

I'd be happy if my team won the league cup and didn't win any other trophies in a season. It's a trophy, it's worth something.

The club world cup is just nothing really. Can anyone even name the past winners of the last 10 club world cups without looking it up?

because it is obvious. even your own fans happily admit that the only people who will 1 star this article are liverpool fans.

anyway, if you prefer the hoody style of debating - "if you don't agree with me you're racist" - then have at it.

In the OP you've said the European team should win it most times unless they messed it up so it shouldn't be too hard then...

State of that.

I’ve got a lot of time for the league club, you get some good aways and it’s a tidy earner for the lower league clubs.

Would prefer it to be at a neutral ground for the final though.

Great point, I was more upset we lost the league cup in the semi final that year than I was that we lost the Club World Cup in the final.

Marketing wise it's a no contest. Not only is there more prize money for the CWC but the sponsorship and marketing avenues are worth loads.

Happy with either though.

I do think that the only time the Club World Cup is legitimate is when the winning team won their domestic league AND the Champions League the season before. Only then can you say you're the best in your country, your continent and your planet.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Hard to disagree. Which English team have done that?

Your own style of ‘arrogance and superiority’ isn’t much better tbf.

I’m not even sure why the two are being compared anyway. To win the LC you skip the first few rounds, then potentially play a couple of lower league teams and maybe win it having beaten one or two PL teams.

To even play in the CWC you potentially have to beat the best teams of Europe, ergo the world, and win the biggest club competition in the world. Sure, the quality of opposition drops significantly once you get there, but it’s all about the journey.
