I'm inclined to agree with everything Tamwolf has stated above. The Doc has been with us for ten years now and has been one of our best players since our return to the top flight. He has two years left on his contract and I feel he's reached his peak. He has been exposed quite a lot defensively, but his attacking ability has covered some of his frailties.
What does he want? I'm sure he'll be paid more than what he gets at Wolves, so that could be a deciding factor.
Transfer markt is not the be all and end all of football, but they are usually fairly accurate where transfers are concerned. The Doc is apparently down from his best price in 2019 and if we get anywhere near 15m, I think it'll be a good deal, as we only paid 81k for him.
Plus, let's not forget that Nuno has been told that he has to generate money from sales to buy anyone.
No player is irreplaceable and we've certainly had our monies worth from the Doc. If he goes, we should all wish him well and hope his defensive frailties go in our favour, if he plays against us this season.

but he's already played for Ireland.

Yeah I know, was just surprised tis all. Ten years and never knew he was a brilliant foreigner after all!!
I love doc but in isolation wouldn't have an issue with the move but when you factor in the Jonny injury it is a little more concerning.
Nuno loves to name the same side week after week and now with two weeks to go til we kick off we basically have to bed in two wings backs with very little game time under their belt.
Just seems a little un-Nuno to me.
I know Doc will be missed on Mol Mix. Some of that in the know info particularly around early pointers of team selection might not be so evident from now on. Not that I would tell tales
Looks like he's off then, well good luck to him. If there's a testimonial next summer I'll be there (hopefully).
Im laughing a bit at people saying that the move will set him up for life as if the million quid or so a year he's earning now wont .

Yeah, he will need all the extra money just to break even in London.
I do believe Dion is back at Wolves after his 6 month loan at Cardiff. Haven't read anywhere that he's got another loan deal.
By the way, we still have to offload/loan out Bennett, Miranda and Bonatini again as they are still under contract with us.
tam
doherty has scored 8 goals in 74 prem games in a low scoring team,
maitland nialls has scored 1 in a 100
i don't have the stats but i'd bet that dohertys assists would be equally high.
you don't replace that as easily as you think.
8 goals 11 assists i think Wolfgang.
Given the paucity of our attack in general he will very likely be missed but for now we have to trust Fosun, Jeff and Nuno know what they are doing so i won't be panicking yet but it is fair to say i am a little concerned.

I don't think that is easy to replace (but thanks for telling me I do). But I think they already have the replacement and I think he is easier to replace than someone like Neves or Boly.
AMN has been playing in a different system for Arsenal, as a more traditional fullback or defensive midfield (less frequently) so I'm not sure that is a fair comparison. I think one of the reasons we play so deep is because of our lack of pace. AMN has loads of pace, so might allow us to play higher. He also has midfield instincts which will make him good on the ball.
We have also been linked with a few other RBs. Doherty is great in this system, but he does have his weaknesses which will always limit our options on how we play. He was always going to have to be improved on eventually if we are to move forward.
Will be strange to have the first ‘Doc free’ match thread in a few weeks but that’s life
Good luck Matt
Here's a boost to the kitty
Wolves have received a total of around £10 million in promotion bonuses from Leeds and Fulham as part of the deals for Helder Costa and Ivan Cavaleiro.
The huge chunk of cash comes on top of the £16m the club had already received from the Elland Road side for Costa, and the £15m they got from the Cottagers for Cavaleiro.
It is understood Wolves have been handed around £5m extra for each winger after Leeds clinched the Championship title and Fulham won the play-off final.
A boost to the transfer kitty, it represents a great piece of business for the club, who had already made a profit on both Portuguese players.
Costa arrived at Molineux in 2017 from Benfica for £13m while fellow forward Cavaleiro was bought for £7m from Monaco.
The bonuses take the money Wolves have received for both players to just over £40m.
After 12 months of relatively low squad investment, incoming fees and PL & EL money, I dont think money is an issue. Recruiting the right players might be. Its clearer than ever that major investment is now required and our cautious approach to the market will test the patience of fans for a few weeks to come yet.
Nuno seems to be a fussy begger too when it comes to players but he'll have his targets.
Can you imagine the meltdown if we had to go in to the Sheffield Utd game with Buur at RWB . The relatively gentle start to the season might allow the club to stretch the recruitment deep in to the window mind you.

I’m pretty sure Doc can afford to buy fish & chips on a regular basis but I would also be pretty confident in saying he is the lowest paid of Wolves first team squad, and I suspect a motivation behind this surprise move is the chance to get in line with some of the better paid Premier League players
Would be interesting to know what his wage was say compared to Neto?
i think dj and cinci have probably just hit the nail on the head regarding this sale
He only signed a new contract last year, his agent wants sacking if he negotiated him one of the worst deals at the club. I'm sure he'll get a better deal at Spurs and a good signing on fee but I'm sure if wages were the issue he wouldn't have recently signed a four year deal.
At a club like ours i can't see there being a massive disparity really. Have read that Moutinho is on 100k but find that hard to believe though maybe would explain the crazy initial fee.
Not sure how accurate this is, but I guess it's about right. Obviously some have left.

Messi finally wants to come to England in the season that very few if us will get to set him play in the flesh. Might not happen of course but what a bummer. Imagine being a season ticket holder at a lowly relegation fodder club like the Albion and missing out on your one chance to see him play in Sandwell because of social distancing restrictions.
Interesting Wolfie.
I find some of those numbers a little ridiculous to be honest and suspect it is little more than guess work for the most part mind.
Saiss fee would seem pretty low but i guess he did join in the championship and only from a lowly French side. Be amazed if MGW is still being paid that little as well.

To be fair it would look like social distancing on the pitch that day as well
Sad truth is that loyalty to a club isn’t the way to make The biggest bucks in football. I’m sure With his new contract Doc got a big increase compared to the deal he was under from the lower divisions. But from this move he will probably get a very healthy signing on fee and be one of the better paid players at Spurs who I’m sure pay their first team squad more than Wolves. My guess is if you add the signing on fee and salary, his income over the next few years will be close to double what he would get by staying put
Yeah the Gibbs White figure looks low to me. That's not much more than I get for sitting on my @rse all day talking sh!te on Teams meetings and messing about on here. I'd be surprised if Kilman isn't on a bit more than that too.
I earn a living sitting on my @rse talking shh!t on teams meetings too. Funny old world it’s turned into and I don’t see it going back to how it was 6 months ago, not for me anyway. Just wish could quickly get back to going to sporting events, gigs and cinema and being able to travel abroad unrestricted
